This young man appears to have had significant mental health issues for quite a while. Even the best of parents are sometimes unable to bring healing to a troubled child, especially once the child is legally of age to decline mental health treatment. Unless the parents are complete monsters, they are probably devastated by the events of this day.
I have heard many “skeptics” use that kind of logic to prove their is no God and other such things. College can brainwash many weak minded people.
