President Buddy Roemer? He says he might take a shot at it because he’s deeply unimpressed with the rest of the potential Republican field.

Next month the former congressman and Louisiana governor will announce whether he’ll be competing for the GOP nomination for president. In an interview with The News Star in his home state he sounded ready to go for it: “I’m getting ready to make my case with the American people.” Continue Reading

Roemer has discussed his presidential ambitions with his family and board members of his Business First Bank. He’s even found a replacement to run the bank should he hit the trail.

Analyzing the potential lineup of GOP contenders, Roemer told the Star on Friday that he “saw little leadership” and that “everybody I saw is part of the problem.”

Let me guess. He didn't offer up any specifics?

I gather we are expected to forget that Roemer was a pro-abort.

Not true! He stated that he was pro-life, except for anyone who wanted an abortion.

I also don't think that anybody who gives the media an excuse to bring David Duke into the fray as a discussion point can do the party any good. Buddy Roemer is the kind of name that comes up when you think of extremely unexceptional pols talking about running. He is George Pataki, Jim Gilmore, Charlie Crist and Elizabeth Dole.

All rolled into one? What an ugly thought.

Louisiana is infamous for having strange combinations all rolled into one. That's how we got James Carville.
