Document dump: Read DHS’s deadline snub and Issa’s forceful Response (Obama Stonewalls panel)
The Daily Caller ^ | February 2, 2011 | Jonathan Strong

Posted on 02/02/2011 8:47:43 AM PST by opentalk

Yesterday, The Daily Caller reported that the Obama administration had snubbed top GOP oversight official Rep. Darrell Issa on his first major document deadline as new chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, sending a short letter promising to comply in response to a major information request that was due Saturday at noon.

A Jan. 28 letter from the Department of Homeland Security said the agency is “in the process of retrieving” documents requested by Issa “and will make them available for your review expeditiously.”

But the next day, Issa’s two-week deadline expired.

Now Issa is hitting back with a forceful response that demands key documents by Thursday.

In his Feb. 1 response, Issa notes DHS missed his deadline despite giving no indication it would not be able to meet it.

Further, several passages in the letter appear to indicate someone inside DHS is providing Issa information.

For instance, Issa notes that his staff “obtained material that called into question” what DHS told Issa about the issue at a September briefing. He also charges that top DHS officials instructed career staff not to search for documents responsive to his request.

Issa is requesting documents from DHS about political interference with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to the agency.

Obama team promotes transparency [2008]

From NBC’s Savannah Guthrie

Obama transition co-chair John Podesta issued a memo today to all transition staff, outlining new procedures on transparency. Team Obama has dubbed the new policy “Seat at The Table.”

In a nutshell, the Obama team will post any documents from official meetings with outside organizations on its Web site. The site also will feature dates of the meetings and the names of organizations involved in the meetings. In the memo, Podesta told the staff, “this scope is a floor, not a ceiling.” In other words, staff are encouraged to include additional materials.

The Obama regime isn't clever or intelligent enough to pull this kind of sh*t off.

It should be real easy to provoke these children into saying something really ill-advised - go for it Issa.

My guess is that shredding machines have been going 24/7 since November. What do you think?

Stench in this Regime equals a backed up sewer system, IMO.

Transition Office Announces Policy of Document Transparency

By Michael D. Shear Web Politics Editor | December 5, 2008; 7:14 PM ET

In a memo to the staff, the Barack Obama transition team is pledging to put all documents from meetings they hold with outside groups on their website for all to see.

“Any documents from official meetings with outside organizations will be posted on our website for people to review and comment on,” the memo, from transition chief John Podesta states.

“Prior to an official meeting with an outside organization or organizations, Obama-Biden Transition Project staff members will inform attendees that any documents provided will be posted on our ‘Seat at the Table’ website found at www.change.gov,” Podesta wrote. “Suggested language for email invitations is: ‘By presenting or submitting any document at a meeting with the Obama-Biden Transition Project, you agree to allow the document to be made public.’”

The policy is intended to draw a sharp contrast to the efforts by the Bush Administration, and especially the vice president, to keep meetings, and especially notes and other documents, secret.

The Obama administration refuses to comply with the circuit court ruling, and now it refuses to comply with Congress.

The White House has gone rogue.

If I were Issa, I’d redline any budget request for DHS.

Barry ( Soros ) Soetoro blocks Congressional access :

”In July, the Associated Press reported top DHS officials told career employees to steer sensitive FOIA requests to Obama’s political advisers for unusual scrutiny. FOIA requests by lawmakers, watchdog groups and journalists were subjected to the special political reviews.”

Place the entire WH staff under house arrest.

Issa is in the process of having his authority and his manhood questioned. I would not underestimate his ability to cause really severe problems for the Obama administration if they refuse to cooperate with the Issa committee and the GOP House. Remember, the House controls ALL of the money.

Shredding won’t work anymore. Everything is produced on computers and travels across network servers. You can’t get rid of it like you could back in the day...you can only make it harder to find.

maybe, but with an administration that doesnt care if it complies, and the senate democratic, and the media not going to do anything, my prediction is we find out what the limits of Issa power are: and that is: he cant do squat in real life except huff and puff.
i mean who does he run to ? Holder? Harry Reid? SCOTUS? MSNBC?

see what i am getting at?

I understand your position. However, soon to be $5+ gas, continuing financial crisis, housing and employment in the crapper, all may have a way of sharpening the public’s mind regarding all the funny ‘goings on’ w/Obama and Buds. Inquiring minds will demand answers.

Issa should subpoena Hussein-the-Usurper’s birth certificate/social security/selective service records.

Cut to the chase here.
