I think there is more here than meets the eye. I went on this foundation’s web page and found some interesting tidbits. Tickets for this event (the first annual “gala”) went on January 17th at $185. On January 30th they dropped the price by $15, and earlier this week the ticket price was dropped again by 50%. It would not surprise me to learn that ticket sales were so poor they couldn’t afford Palin’s fees, so this story was concocted so both Palin and this foundation could save face. I’m a cynic, so flame away...”

The event is not until May. You have plenty of time to sell tickets.

They may not have sold enough tickets in time to make the deposits required for events of this nature...something is definitely odd...

And yet they were selling at half-price after only a month....

I think Mr. Pacheco understood that he wasn't going to cover costs on this event. Palin's speaking fees apparently run to the many thousands....

Okay I’ll flame - from what I had read Palin was donating her time as a fundraiser... your blaming it on her fees is ludicrous.

That would be the first event I’ve heard of featuring Palin that didn’t sell out almost immediately.
