Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney said Wednesday that he supports a run for president by former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.
I believe she is an extraordinarily powerful and effective voice in our party, that she has generated a great deal of support and attention, that shed be great in a primary process, Mr. Romney said.
He added that he supports Ms. Palin entering the race, noting that the more candidates, the better.

Another leftist source. I checked out the poll, “Who is the leading candidate for POTUS?” and the overwhelming majority of readers voted for Obama.
As for what Mitt said, what else can he say? He’s already damaged goods, and the last thing he needs to do is anger any more conservatives who don’t happen to know what he stands for.

My prediction is that the GOP ticket in 2012 will be some combination of Romney/Huck or Huck/Romney.
Note: I’m not saying this is my preference, only that I think this is what the ticket will be.

If so, he should immediately announce he is not running and endorse one of her opponents. That is, if he really wants to help her.

Distasteful as that may be, it's still better than 0bama's pick, Jon Huntsman, IMO.

Mitt should drop out as he will not receive much of the right-wing base vote, even if he made it to the election. The right-wing core would rather see 4 more years of a Democrat making a mess than 4 years of a Republican making a mess. Every time a RINO wins they make conservative principles appear wrong and stupid to folks "in the middle" who we are trying to get to understand those principles. Following a RINO is not pretty.

Typical Mitt...praise Palin publicly while sending his minions out to kill any nascent campaign she may launch.

I get where you're coming from, but that will mean that people are still supporting the old machine. I hope people stop supporting RNC completely and just give directly to candidates.
Hey, if control of the RNC, i.e., leadership all turned into Tea Party people and non-professionals, then I'd know I could safely give them dollars and they would work for us "little people". I don't see Mitt with a snowball's chance, he's made way too many waffles, he should work at IHOP.

The right-wing core would rather see 4 more years of a Democrat making a messAbsurdly bad thinking. We would have been better off with McCain than Obama.
Worse, Obama's no Clinton, he really hates America and all she stands for.
Conservatives would logically want some improvement over none or worse. Ideally, we would take and hold the Senate and House for a generation or more. That's the only way we'll get there.
The realpolitick is that if the Left knows that they can split out our vote and elect a radical like Obama they'll run some "Perot" every time. Our only focus should be victory - incrementalism works, it worked for the Left and it will work for us - see gun rights and abortion for two great examples.

Huck went after Mitt in the last election, attacking his religion, so I don’t see them cozying up to each other on a ticket.
To: 1010RD
I absolutely agree. Most conservatives, I suspect, will vote for Mitt over O.

This going to make the mittenbots cringe.

“Conservatives would logically want some improvement over none or worse.”
The pivot question is whether any given weak candidate actually is some improvement, or simply offers a slower acting poison. The first would be a relative good, the latter would actually be more harmful, as it would continue to be internalized.
