It's time to pour out the multiculti Kool-Aid.
That was the message from British Prime Minister David Cameron as he attacked "state multiculturalism" for letting Islamic radicals prosper virtually unchecked in the West.
Instead of celebrating Western freedoms, the Brits have played blind while extremists recruit followers in universities, mosques and online chat rooms.
No more namby-pamby.
"Frankly," he told a security conference Saturday, "we need a lot less of the passive tolerance of recent years and a much more active, muscular liberalism."
That requires actively promoting values like freedom of speech and equal rights for all -- and expecting all newcomers to do the same, fully integrating themselves into public life.
Good for Cameron, and good for the Brits.
Too bad on our side of the pond the government still has blinders on.
Sometimes with deadly consequences.
Consider Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan. According to a report issued last week by leaders of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, Hasan for years argued that as a loyal Muslim he could kill fellow soldiers, and said suicide bombings were justified.
But he not only wasn't expelled from the military -- he was actually promoted by superiors who pretended his obsession with Islamic extremism was "praiseworthy research" on terrorism.
Meanwhile, the FBI intercepted emails Hasan sent to al Qaeda operatives, but buried his case because it didn't want to jeopardize his career.
That timidity cost 13 lives, after Hasan went on a shooting spree at his Army base in Fort Hood in November 2009.
Trouble comes, Cameron explained, when "we've been too cautious . . . even fearful" to push back.

Could anything be more obvious. Look what the Black segregationists like Sharpton have wrought.
Sharpton and JJ wouldn’t even be noticed in the UK.
There are some real animals over there like Choudary who raise all kinds of hell demanding sharia and Muslim enclaves.(Hannity had him on the other night)
Cameron had to act or Britain would become Pakistan West in a generation.
Still, I never thought he had the balls, especially with Clegg along for the ride.
He uses the term liberalism in the context of its old meaning. As in being for liberty - freedom of speech, versus some politically correct nanny state straightjacket.
This is a spiritual battle. The secularists have no power to fight back against evil. They can’t even recognize evil when it’s right in their faces.
I noticed that too....and classic liberalism is pretty much the direct opposite of Islam, which is Europes worst problem. Even worse than socialistic economies, IMHO.
Systems can be changed...but purging Islamism? Now there is a challenge!
HOORAY David Cameron and the Brits! Anti-truth, anti-freedom, anti-individual, anti-life collectives are never a good thing anywhere on the planet.
Denigrate, defund, dismantle, destroy them.
It’s a damned shame we let the leftists take over and tarnish the name of Liberalism. Classic liberalism is a good thing. The problem is that now the term is associated with Socialism and a disregard for the law.
When he takes Michael Savage off the “ banned in England “ list I might start taking him seriously ...
Radical Islam is real Islam.
Moderate Islam is their Trojan Horse.
I’ve watched/listened-to Cameron a few times on the C-Span airing of
“prime-minister questions” that airs on Wednesdays and re-airs on Sundays.
The guy is whip-smart. Takes rapid-fire questions from all the attendees
and pretty much never loses a step. If Obama could take such an oratorical
beating without freakin’ out, I’d be shocked.
Makes the “leader” of “the last superpower” sound like a mental midget.
Shame we can’t vote for Cameron for US President in 2012.
Or sooner.
