GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Authorities have arrested a woman they say left the infant she had just delivered in a toilet at a South Carolina sports and concert arena.
Police Chief Terri Wilfong says the 25-year-old woman from Easley is a married mother of a 4-year-old. Authorities say Jessica Blackham was arrested on Tuesday night after she came to the Greenville police station accompanied by family members.

Scores of locals were calling with tips about who the mother could be and offers to adopt the child, who had been in critical condition late Friday when a cleaning crew pulled him from the toilet bowl.
Married with a 4 year old. I suspect she has mental or substance abuse issues.
Bottom line: Abortion de-values life. It is because of abortion that these examples of callous disregard for human life occur.
What in the world?
There are scores of adoption agencies, there are places to go, there are programs out there that can help, bottom line- there were things she could have done that were one thousand percent better than leaving the newborn in the toilet.
Where is her head, and what is in it?
Just wait till she sues to get the child back.
We have so cheapened life in this country by allowing abortion on demand. This is disgusting. The woman should be fixed and the 4 year old taken away for good.
This woman makes me sick. To think someone would throw away a child so carelessly with no care in mercy. What a complete tragedy.

I predict she will get probation. She has suffered enough. She was under stress, etc, etc, etc.
At a guess, the baby is obviously not her husband’s - i.e different race, or husband in prison or stationed abroad at time of conception.
Makes no sense for a woman that old, with another child, to leave her baby in a toilet.
Sad Sad..Story.... But I’m glad to hear the baby is doing alright. I can’t understand a mother that would do this to their child...Even if she didn’t want the child I think you can leave a newborn at a fire-station.
Looking at her pic I would say yes to both.
Officials said they could not immediately explain what Blackham may have been thinking when she gave birth Friday night at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville while attending a circus performance.

I know I was thinking something more was going on, just because of her age that puzzled me. I can’t imagine any good reason for doing something like that though, even if it is what you say. It’s just to bad that she has so little care for a human life no matter what the reason.
i agree with you...Whatever the reason...this woman may have had serious mental issues...that does not keep her from getting pregnant. In any case, she needs a lot of help, she has a four year old and if she can be helped that would be a start.
this is a difficult case because you can’t MAKE anyone consistently get help and people are very reluctant to remove a child from the mother, for a variety of reasons, some of them valid.
