I think there’s precedent for the United States to say to a foreign power, “Your people are harming our people. If you won’t handle it, we will. Clock’s ticking.”

True, but the United States needs leadership and we don't have that vital ingredient. This current government will do nothing about this problem, until such time it sees tangible political benefit.

We are, as they say, in violent agreement on that point. The question was whether there’s precedent. I only wish the current “leadership” would take this in hand.
