Tsetse flies (editorial on Putin's palace)

“In the early stages of the disease this parasite enters the blood, while in the later stages its affects the central nervous system and leads to death.” – from Wikipedia

Anyone living in a poor country that has a palace to be built for himself, such as (Putin’s palace) in Gelendzhik, should go to prison, and for a very long time. Judging by what we know today this is probably V.V. Putin, the Prime Minister. If not Putin, then show me - I want to see this man! It is not hard to find who did this. Other than Putin, only five or six persons in Russia have administrative control over such financial resources: Medvedev, Sechin, Abramovich, Deripaska, Timchenko – all close associates of our national leader.

Gelendzhik is far and away not the most terrible of the regime’s crimes, but it is the most intuitively instructive, and the most, if you will, consensual.

The asphyxiation of hostages at ‘Nord-Ost’ and the incineration of schoolchildren in Beslan were enthusiastically welcomed by the golden pens of Russian journalism, from Prokhanov to Radzikhovsky, as triumphs of Russian statecraft. The public, however, has yet to realize that the transformation of the North Caucasus into an Islamic fundamentalist base for a terrorist war to destroy Russia was the natural result of Kremlin policies in there.

Gelendzhik and thousands of smaller Gelendzhiks across the country have convinced tens of millions that we are ruled by a gang of thieves and criminals who long ago lost all moral and legal legitimacy. Removing them from power using all means provided for by the Constitution is rapidly becoming a matter of national survival.

Internal evolution of this regime through ‘thaw’ and ‘perestroika’ is impossible. As a matter of fact, the regime itself represents the final stage of perestroika: the evolutionary dead end of the predatory communist and state security nomenklatura, which 25 years ago consciously set out on a path, unprecedented in world history, of personal enrichment through the dismemberment of one of the two superpowers.

The commutation to May 8th, 2012 of another 12 years of the ruling Tsakhesov-Tsapkov tandem* (Tsetse) will lead to the mass exodus of talented young people and the remaining professionals from the country, and opinion polls reflect this. The next few months are crucial. If these freaks remain in power, it will be the death penalty for Russia.

Thousands of decent people in government, the power structures (armed forces and security services), small business, media and culture long ago ceased to have illusions about these two tiny tsetse, yet they still continue to deceive themselves by believing that they really do not serve them, but Russia. Today, however, many from various walks of life, and more often than not women, are starting to refuse to live this lie.

What is needed is a mass boycott of this unjust regime, a denial of service to its radiating towers, and a rejection of their invitation to the execution of our country. This will lead to total isolation of the plebeian nouveau riche - the owners of all those palaces, yachts and television stations. And then, like Mubarak, they will not be saved by any Seliger goats* riding camels.

* Some heavy word play in this editorial. This author refers to the Putin-Medvedev tandem as “Tsakhesov and Tsapkov” or by the initials ‘Ts-Ts’, an allusion to the parasite-vectoring tsetse fly. Tsakhesov refers to “Tiny Tsakhes (Zaches) called cinnabar” from the play by E.T.A. Hoffman. Tsakhes/Zaches was an ugly dwarf given magical powers to steal other peoples’ merits. The political satire show “Kukly” (“Dolls”) showed a famous episode with Putin as “Little Zaches” that soon resulted in the show’s cancellation. The video can be viewed here:

Tsapkov is an allusion to “tsapk”, a seed potato or spud for planting. “To plant” is Russian slang for “to send to prison”.

Lake Seliger is also a picturesque area where many high-level government officials have weekend houses or “dachas”. The famed monastery on Stolybniy Island is located there.

Goat -“kozyol” in Russian - is a common insult.

Are Roosky taxpayers getting fleeced for these edifices? If so why don’t they say so? If they’re getting paid for out of private fortunes, why should the neighbors care, except out of envy?

Like Mubarak, Obama, and Bill Clinton, V.V.Putin has never had a private sector job. Putin went from army, to KGB, to St. Petersburg mayor's aid, to assistant FSB chief, to FSB chief, to Prime Minister, to President, and then back to Prime Minister.

He even has about $200 of my money.

Most Russians don't miss the communists, but one friend said wistfully, while discussing the vast fortunes of certain government officials: "You know, when Stalin died all he left was a pair of valenki (snow boots)."

Russia isn’t a Western democracy but its not a totalitarian either like under the Communists. Perestroika has reached a dead end with the current elite. They have been able to provide stability but stability is not enough in the absence of long term goals. If the federal leadership of Russia has them, its a well-kept secret.

Exactly. Latin America is a best analogue for a modern Russian government.
