Agreed, when you do stupid stuff it is not up to the united states tax payer to bail your butt out.
I don't agree. I've seen no evidence that they did anything "stupid", but more to the point I think a big part of the mission of the U.S. Navy is to come to the defense of U.S. flagged vessels that are attacked on the high seas.
