At 8 a.m. Thursday, 14 state senators from Wisconsin met upstairs from a coffee shop a block from the capitol and decided the safest route to blocking Republican Gov. Scott Walker's budget bill was to leave town. Elder statesman, 83-year-old Sen. Fred Risser, who was first elected in 1956, gave his blessing.

Minority leader Mark Miller suggested they meet up at the Best Western Clock Tower Resort in Rockford, Ill. It was across the state line, only about an hour and a half away by car, and the hotel's clock tower was easy to spot from the I-90.

Three hours later, the state Senate was thrown into confusion by the Democrats' absence. Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald asked the Senate's Sgt. at Arms to begin searching the capitol offices of the missing senators. Protestors crowding the statehouse hallways slowed the task.

Did they not seek those positions?
Why run away from a job you applied for?
Gutlessness, thy name is “Democrat”.
Is there any way by which the governor can remove, censure, fine, garnish, or otherwise punish the idiot democrats who ran away?
Anyone in Illinois know their whereabouts?
Cancel their government credit cards.
Wisconsin Lawmakers Live Life on Union Dues.
Why did they run?
-You can’t get room service at the Capitol to send up a bottle of Beam and a hooker.
I don’t understand why the Governor does not see if he can legally consider that these elected officials have quit.
I would get on tv and announce that since the group has not been at their jobs for ‘x’ amount of time, he considers that they have left their positions. Then replace them.
I saw a Tweet indicating the Indiana House Democrats are now AWOL as well in an effort to derail a vote on right to work.
Pass:
Right-to-work
Must issue
Voter ID
Ban Motor Voter
School vouchers
Then:
Cancel the run-away senators’ state issued credit cards.
You can bet the unions are letting them live the life of Michelle on this vacation.
Pray for Wisconsin
This surprised me as most of these individuals are stealing from the taxpayers and helping others do the same thing. I also thought most Democrats were secular humanists. But then maybe a minority of those on the lam went to church services.
Mr. Jauch said they aren't hiding, but his wife, Cecilia, did have to drive 350 miles to bring him a suitcase full of clean clothes and $300 in cash.
I guess Senator Jauch does not know how to find a laundromat and use a washing machine and dryer to do his own laundry. I wonder why he did not simply use an ATM to obtain the $300.00unless his wife got the funds from an (ahem) undeclared source.
Bob Jauch is a Democrat. He's used to being waited on hand and foot.
If they are trying this stunt in Indiana, then they are deliberately raising the stakes with BO’s blessing.
The WI Senate must proceed today on legislation and confirmations. This is the critical day NOT to go weak.
They are still in McHenry county Illinois.
picket thier homes the way the dems do.
