Is Dr. John Boyd, President of the National Black Farmers Association, even a Doctor?
Commentary Magazine ^ | 2/22/11 | Alana Goodman

John Boyd is the president of the National Black Farmer’s Association and has been the main media face of the Pigford settlement for over a decade. He’s been featured on numerous TV shows and in print. He’s been lauded by members of the Congressional Black Caucus and often appears beside them in public appearences. He’s been recognized by President Obama and was present at the private signing ceremony when the Pigford II settlement was signed.

Here’s a question that should be simple to answer — does he actually have a doctorate that allows him to refer to himself in professional situations as Dr. John Boyd?

Hours of research show many contradictions in the way Boyd refers to himself but so far, I’ve found no evidence whatsoever that Boyd ever received any degree, either earned or honorary, much less any doctorate.

In testimony before the House of Representatives in 2008, he refers to himself as Dr. John Boyd .

But Boyd’s bio from Gale Contemporary Black Biography says the hollowing.

Education: Attended Southside Community College, 1983, and Clemson Univ., 1984-85.

Whatever the result, he’s no less a “Dr.” than plagiarist MLK, Jr.

Try again.

Although clouded by plagiarism, DOCTOR Martin Luther King has a PhD in systemic theology. This joker may not even have any degree.

Seems like making stuff up is par for the course.

“The first time I said ‘National Black Farmers Association’ instead of ‘John Boyd,’ people came to the phone, even though at the time it was only me,” he told the Times-Dispatch.

“Bishop” is another title that blacks will take, and insist upon being addressed as such, without any reason other than they like being called “Bishop”. At least that is the case in my neck of the woods.

Maybe Doctor is his first name?

I have known several people who's first names were Admiral, Reverend, Bishop, Colonel, and Mayor. Seems weird, but it is a projectionist quirk. If the child has a grand name, maybe he or she will be grand when they grow-up. Of course , some have their name legally changed later in life.

Only because of PC or out of posthumous respect . . . so I don’t consider that legitimate title

I don’t know what you mean; the doctorate was awarded in 1955.

There was an investigation which showed significant parts of the thesis was plagiarized That was the reason for my comment . . .Boston U (I think it was) decided not to retract the awarding of the PhD . .it doesnt get alot of publicity for PC reasons but the news has been out there for many years, since maybe 1980

Still, this loser never got a BS, let alone a PhD. Big difference.

King was awarded a PhD by Boston University for having completed the requirements of that degree. Later it was determined, by researchers at Stanford IIRC) that at least 40% of his dissertation was lifted from someone else’s dissertation. So he called himself ‘doctor’ but never earned that title. He was a plagiarist. Adulterer too.

Yeah but every January, our public schools have to celebrate the life of a Baptist preacher.
