Even GOP activists are turning against Sarah Palin

ROCK HILL, S.C. — As Sarah Palin wonders whether to run for president, she might want to talk to people in places such as South Carolina.

She'd find her star fading, and her prospects daunting.

Republicans still like her, but now they openly question whether she could or should be nominated for president, let alone elected.

At a recent gathering in South Carolina, the site of a crucial early presidential primary next year, party activists said the former Alaska governor didn't have the experience, the knowledge of issues or the ability to get beyond folksy slang and bumper-sticker generalities that they think is needed to win and govern.

Many are shopping for someone else. They're looking at Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., for example, and seeing what they call a smarter, more experienced candidate who's equally as conservative.

"Sarah Palin with a brain," said Gail Moore, a Republican from Columbia.

Shall we name pissant’s futile effort, “the battle of the bilge?”

Back during the first Reagan Admin there was a pompous ass named Holmes Alexander who was some sort of editorial factotum for the Wash Post. He was born and raised in Rockford Illinois. Periodically he would hold his nose and return to the old sod. He supposedly conducted extensive interviews with a representative sample of Rockfordians including some ‘rock ribbed Republicans’ who always turned out to be a couple country club Smiling Jim's he knew from high school. The results always were ‘even loyal Republicans conservative middle American Rockford have grave doubts and concerns over the direction Reagan is taking the country and GOP...blah blah blah. Eventually, The American Spectator , I think outed him by having someone in Rockford actually check up on what this Diogenes actually was doing while in Rockford. It turns out his ‘research’ consisted of cadging free meals and drinks at the country club while hanging out with the same three or four Rino types. These were fellows whose philosophy was that everyone knew Reagan came from the backstreets of a hick town down state and no body would have let someone like him in the Rockford Country Club and now here is this ‘stupid actor’ running the country.

I wonder. It could resemble 1964, with the ‘moderates’ falling apart during the convention and then rallying to do everything to sabotage the candidate during the campaign. I can remember Gorgeous George Romney introducing Barry Goldwater to a good sized crowd with thinly veiled contempt. His introductory remarks consisted of “Ladies and Gentlemen the Republican Candidate for President.” He wouldn't even say Goldwater's name and he ostentatiously left the platform a couple minutes into Goldwater's remarks. I can easily imagine the ‘moderate’ Lugar types doing this and a lot more to Palin. If the nation is in obvious chaos it may not damage her that much. In a close election it will. I know people who are life long Repubs who state flatly ‘I will never support or vote for that woman. Obama at least is a Harvard Law grad.”

LOL.

You are such a pariah. You post this kind of crap and virtually everyone piles on and says the obvious: That you are full of sh*t.

You are the most despised and ridiculed poster on FR for good reason. You earned it.

You're stuck with it.

Count the posters (two?) that defended you on this thread and kindly just do a suicide opus for us again, but this time stay away like you promised.

No one listens to you because you have zero credibility.

Congrats. This thread was a joy to read.

Well said, my friend! In the last few days, she mentioned on Day 1 re: air blockade of Libya...on Day 2 the NATO planners decide to consider an air blockade of Libya...coincidence?

Agreed! We can’t afford a 1964 type election. Barry will get two more picks on the sc and we can’t have that.

Anyone thinking palin will be the best option to defeat barry is delusional. The only one I see who can beat obama at this point is christie.

In a magazine yesterday: An approximate quote from Donald Trump: “I don’t have a problem with redistribution of wealth.” How do you like Mr. Trump now?

Bachman simply is not in the same ball park as Palin. I think it`s ridiculous that she is even thinking of running (speaking of Bachman)

Yes she has a right to run! I will be royally flamed for what I said, so be it.

It will be the beginning of the end for Obama when Sarah Palin wins the nomination.

The day that happens, the MSM will say Obama was just re elected, he wont even have to campaign they will say.

Chrissy Matthews will say Obama can rest easy now, he will certainly have a easy re election...I can hear it all now, but slowly they will become very very scared as the time moves along.

Enough Americans will come to learn that what they had been told about Sarah Palin was only propaganda, and she will have more than enough support to become President. Yes she will always be hated by the left, but big deal.

Having West as her running mate would bring in a minimum of another 5 % of the black vote, who knows maybe more. Not saying she needs West, just saying it would be very smart, and would make Obama very very nervous.

I like thousands of others on the closing speech by West at CPAC, immediately said Palin/West. I posted it here at FR either the same day as West speech, or the day after.

Only question is now, will Pissant vote for Palin or will he vote for Obama? I do not know the answer? He may well vote to re elect Obama?

I am not ready at this point to get behind any of the potential candidates, but I can say that among my conservative friends, they are reflecting the same sentiments as are reflected in this article. To paraphrase: “Sarah is a great asset to the conservative movement but not what we need in a presidential candidate.”

"She's not really creative," said Swain Shepperd, a retiree from Rock Hill. "She just repeats what's already been said by others."

Sounds as if Swain has his politicians confused:
