Gingrich: If Palin Took Obama Actions, There Would Be Calls for Impeachment

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV Friday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said President Barack Obama’s decision not to fully enforce the Defense of Marriage law eventually could lead to a constitutional crisis, as he has directly violated his constitutional duties by arbitrarily suspending a law. Gingrich even suggested that, if a “President Sarah Palin” had taken a similar action, there would have been immediate calls for her impeachment. Clearly it’s a violation of his constitutional oath. Clearly it is not something that can be allowed to stand." Obama Attorney General Eric Holder said on Wednesday that the administration will not defend the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act.. Gingrich slammed Obama for his decision, telling Newsmax that he is not a “one-person Supreme Court” and his decision sets a “very dangerous precedent” that must not be allowed to stand. Story continues below video. “Imagine that Governor Palin had become president. Imagine that she had announced that Roe versus Wade in her view was unconstitutional and therefore the United States government would no longer protect anyone’s right to have an abortion because she personally had decided it should be changed. The news media would have gone crazy. The New York Times would have demanded her impeachment. “First of all, he campaigned in favor of [the law]. He is breaking his word to the American people,” Gingrich says. “Second, he swore an oath on the Bible to become president that he would uphold the Constitution and enforce the laws of the United States. He is not a one-person Supreme Court. The idea that we now have the rule of Obama instead of the rule of law should frighten everybody.

Gingrich is absolutely right. At least someone is speaking out strongly about this terrible situation. Where are all the other leaders in both parties?
Marriage should/is between a man and a woman.

The administrations stance not to defend DOMA as unconstitutional sets a nice precedent. If we can get The O out of office the new president after 2012 can take the same stance on Obamacare!

I’m hoping the next radical President will decide to ignore all gun laws passed since 1900.

Gingrich spokesman makes clear that Gingrich doesn’t mean anything when he talks. “It’s just useless partisan noise,” he stressed. “He has been more-or-less unaware of what the words actually mean for at least the past couple of decades.”

Obama has ignored NUMEROUS federal laws and is not enforcing most of them.....Illegal imigration to begin with.

How many more do you need? I’d vote for impeachment in a heartbeat.

Newt, honey,...You think a **gay** issue is, **now** ( after 2 1/2 years), threatening the Constitution?????

Newt,...You are choking on a gay gnat, and swallowing, in one whole bite, the 800 lb gorilla of Obama’s eligibility!

Where have you been? Doing a “walk about” in the Australian Outback? A **gay** issue have finally caught your attention as being a constitutional crisis? UNBELIEVABLE!

Newt, where have you been since early 2008 when the question of Obama’s natural born status arose? Huh?
Having a possible usurper in the White House has been and **IS** our **MOST** urgent and critical “constitutional crisis!!!

Obama is a man ( a likely usurper) who is in control of the world's most powerful and destructive military since the dawn of CREATION! With a nod of his head and stroke of his pen he can ( and has) destroyed the savings and livelihoods of millions. His decrees have literally resulted in starvation and death around the world.

What's **immediately** needed here are few subpoenas for a few key, but COMMON, documents that would prove or disprove Obama’s natural born citizenship! How about you start insisting that the wormy Repubs grow a pair and issue those subpoenas?

Newt, I don't believe a word you are saying. Impeachment with a Democrat controlled Senate is IMPOSSIBLE, and YOU KNOW IT!

What you are doing, Newt, is throwing out a dry phony bone to to conservatives in preparation of your presidential campaign. This talk of impeachment is political hot air.

My apologies to the noble worms, gnats, and gorillas of the world who are actually doing important ecologic, work unlike the Republicans and Newt Gingrich.

The greatest patriots of America HAVE to be the agents of the Secret Service or America is doomed!!!
The Secret Service SWORE AN OATH to uphold THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION.
I have faith in both their honor AND integrity.
We have nothing to fear and no need to activate the duties and responsibilities of the 2nd Amendment as our Founding Fathers foresaw as a possible necessity to prevent another tyranny.
I hope I hope I hope I hope.

"Gingrich adds: “I don’t think these guys set out to create a constitutional crisis. I think they set out to pay off their allies in the gay community and to do something that they thought was clever. I think they didn’t understand the implication that having a president personally suspend a law is clearly unconstitutional.”

Newt, you lost me and many others with your set in concrete stance with Scozifava(sp). You obviously are not willing to recognize the fact that maybe not so much he, (even though he is a sarc Law Professor /sarc), but his army of czars and commie lackies he is surrounded with know exactly what they are doing. Just once in your life, can you just come out and call a spade a spade?

Regardless what your opinion is on Gingrich, you have got to give him credit for pointing out the truth on how the press has given Obama a pass. For a president to trash the constitution as much as Obama and and let it slide is one more indictment of the MSM’s love for the socialism in charge.

Haven’t we all been saying that? Isn’t viewership for - for example - MSNBC down to an all time low because people are sick of it? There’s no “regardless of what you think about Gingrich” to my comment. He’s a snail telling us to calm down, nothing to see here folks!” He’s afraid the discussion about the Constitution will get onto the right track and begin stressing the bipartisan history of The Fall; and his central part in it.

If the pansy Republicans had a spine, there would also be similar calls... to date, outside of a few whines suggesting that they wouldn’t conduct themselves in the same manner, I have heard nothing from the House “majority”.

My opinion of Gingrich is fairly low—but I do give him credit for pointing out truths with some regularity.
