Taxpayers Slam President Obama's 'Cash for Plug-Ins' Program
FOXNEWS ^ | February 12, 2011 | Cheryl Casone

HOENIG The president is insisting on getting people to drive electric cars literally no matter how many tax payer dollars it takes in the process. $2.5 billion in grants for electric cars, $2 billion in grants for batteries, $250,000 to rectify the plug in stations, the $7,500 rebate you talked about, $10 million for towns to promote electric use of those vehicles, and for what? GM sold like 321 volts last month. This is ethanol 2.0. It's a waste of tax payer dollars and it just shows how incredibly depraved the green movement is in this country.

BYRNES 0.1 percent of cars sold last year were electric, so out of all the cars sold a whopping 1800 were electric. And let's not forget we spent $3 billion on "Cash for Clunkers." How'd that work out? It destroyed the used car industry, so let's just stay out of this. Companies will come up with their own R&D number if they think it's necessary.

FITCH The numbers from January don't mean a thing. I mean these cars aren't really available yet. Trust me Americans want these, there'll be 8,000 of these cars on the road by the end of the year, and by the end of next year you're going to have 100,000 volts on the road. The January number doesn't mean anything. I'll tell you what they haven't designed yet is the tax credit to get people to ride bikes, which is the real solution. But until then I'll take this. It's a good deal.

LAYFIELD The majority of Americans don't want electric cars right now and for the people that want them this tax credit makes no difference anyway. I'm a fan of electric cars. I think they are the future. I think it's about 5 to 10 years away

I am reminded of the LED bulb vs the florescent curly bulb, the curly bulb was pushed as the replacement, and now that folks spent and invested in curly bulb, the LED is found to be less toxic and a better alternative.

Electric cars are more like 20 years away.

Until you can go 300 miles without a charge and charge in 30 minutes they are as useless as Teats on a Boar hog.

The Hybrid may fill in for a while, but even in 20 years if electric cars are viable we will need coal powered electricity to charge them.

Only $41,000! The teleprompters cost extra.

Electric cars are not the Future they are the PAST... Just like Trains they are an 1800’s year technology

Hmmm...Obama issues an Executive Order banning deep water drilling off the US coast, but loans $7 billion of OUR money to Brazil to drill off their coast...which ultimately leads to me paying $3.60 a gallon now to fill my tank...which transfers massive amounts of US wealth to Arab (Muslim) nations...while at the same time making electric cars look more attractive because of the higher gas prices (never mind how that electricity is produced). You don’t suppose Obama has an agenda here, do you?

Or how much the carbon credit to produce electricity will cost...

"Anticipate" the future.

Sounds a lot like "Winning the future" doesn't it?

We have had an electric car for about 10 years. We drive it all over the farm. We call it a golf cart, cause that is what it is. Batteries last quit a while but cost an arm and a leg when they need to be replaced. You can sneak up on a deer and surprise him easy with the quiet little thing. We don’t need speed nor distance around the farm. Bought it used for about a thousand dollars.

Electric cars are not economically viable. The only way non-fanatics will buy them is if the government gives them money to do so. This is stupid. Any interference with the free market is doomed to failure.

Hydrogen generators ARE THE way to go.

Storage of dangerous hydrogen is NOT necessary. Cars do not have to have a hydrogen fuel tank nor do we need to have a hydrogen filing station infrastructure.

A generator that has a one liter capacity for distilled water topped with 1 tablespoon of baking soda can give you upwards of 60% better gas mileage.

Now the tricky part.

Because these generators split the water molecule into hydrogen and oxygen, your vehicles oxygen sensor senses this increase of oxygen and tells the vehicles computer the engine is running lean. This causes the computer to richen the fuel mixture and using MORE fuel.

A rheostat wired into the oxygen sensor allows for tricking the vehicles computer that it’s not getting the increased oxygen thereby causing the computer not to send more fuel.

The rheostat is something that has to constantly be fiddled since your speed is always changing as you drive.

All a car manufacturer has to incorporate into ANY vehicle along with the generator is a hydrogen flow sensor that allows the onboard computer to take into consideration the extra oxygen. PERIOD!

Google “hydrogen generator” for yourself. You’ll see!

Let’s not forget that the “Stimulus” money grannts for batteries went to foreign countries.

So Obama can claim he really did create jobs.
Too bad they are in Korea and China.

Why would I want to put my 2 year old and my unborn child in such danger? There is a reason I bought my Titan, and that is because my forced union firefighter husband has seen too many “safe” small cars demolished. It doesn't really matter how many airbags a vehicle has. If it is smaller that the other it is hitting it's probably going to lose. BTW, Walmart had incandescent bulbs on clearance 4/$1 and I bought $20 worth.

When I saw the headline I thought it was going to be about helping bald men to pay for plug-ins, like Joe Biden got, and wondered why Obama hadn’t put Biden in charge of the program.

"...and it just shows how incredibly depraved the green movement is in this country."

Yes, it's a partnership between big corporates and big government. See the recent "food safety" law (S.510, thank goodness, it only passed with the Tester Amendment to exempt small farms). And see the thousands of phony enviros fronted by big corporations in locales to prevent competition from small businesses.
