Marine Le Pen poll rating shock for French politics

An opinion poll suggesting far-right leader Marine Le Pen could win the first round of next year's presidential election has caused a shock in France.

The survey for Le Parisien newspaper puts the National Front leader, who took over from her father Jean-Marie in January, ahead of all other candidates.

It gives her 23% of the vote, 2% ahead of both President Nicolas Sarkozy and Socialist leader Martine Aubry.

However, some analysts question the accuracy of the online poll.

Online surveys are arguably less reliable than telephone polling, and Le Parisien's poll assumes Ms Aubry will be chosen as the Socialists' candidate, while the party has yet to decide.

Jean-Marie Le Pen was the shock runner-up in the first round of the 2002 election, only to be massively defeated in the second against Jacques Chirac.

Looks like French citizens have had their fill of muslim antics and are gearing up to try to do something about it.I just hope that they did not wait too long.

We don’t agree with the ‘European Right’ on everything but they are strongly anti-Muslim immigration so they may be what’s needed in France now.

Looks like even the French are sick of lying Leftist Leaders like Sark and we know the Germans are sick of the duplicitous matron Merkle. Marine Le Pen doesn’t sound ‘far-right’ to me, she sounds like someone sane and courageous!

They have to have it out with these clowns at some point...and like you imply, sooner better than later.

The Muzzies grow stronger by the day, and the real French grow older...so time is not on the side of France (and pretty much the rest of Europe, as we know it).

What gets more interesting, assuming that the French win, is what do they do. I can think of a few options, but they range from criminal to genocidal...I have trouble thinking of options that can take care of the problem without getting really, really, nasty.

How about stopping immigration of the uneducated and deporting criminals for a start?

“How about stopping immigration of the uneducated and deporting criminals for a start?”

Sure, nothing wrong with that...but they don’t need any more immigration to grow their numbers very quickly. Deporting criminals will still only be a small number...and that assumes that some country will even take them back.

Long term, nothing solved. For long term, they need to somehow control their numbers or change who they are and how they behave...try to figure out a way to do that easily.

One other comment...what you suggest would have worked fine, maybe 25 or so years ago, when those guys consisted of 1 or 2 percent of the population. But when they start exceeding 10%, and they have ethnic population growth as their main goal in those societies, it’s too late to cut the inflow...that only slows things down a bit.

Include Islam4France style rhetoric as a crime or at least an incitement to crime. Those ‘youths’ advocating beheading enemies of Islam needs to be kicked out of the country.

According to this poll her support is only 23%. But that's more than for Sarkozy or Aubry. The election is next year so there should be more polls to show where France is trending.

I know what you mean...I kind of hover around the option of “what would they do to you” in answer to that question.....

Yep! IIRC France is one of the countres that does not allow their immigrants to become citizens and if that is the case then they can easily deport generations of families.Perhaps allow the ones who work to stay but deport all who are on the dole?

Thanks Decimon for the Ping I will ping the List

The le Pens, pere et fille are not a droit. They are closest to neo-Nazis & Fascism than they are to American Conservatism & the Right. They are Statists and National Socialists.

The le Pens are not Conservatives, or part of the traditional European Right. They are playing on people’s fears, but their solution is not an answer to the problem.

I think the poll is a strong message to Sarkozy: start doing things to reverse the Islamization of France, or be REPLACED by somebody who WILL.

If Marine Le Pen is elected, it will be with the understanding that her mandate is to deal with Islamization in her first 100 days, by whatever means necessary.

First, Sarko is not, nor has he ever been a Lefist.
2. Marine le Pen might sound sane & courageous to someone who knows little or nothing about France and French politics.
She and her father are closer to neo-Nazis with whom they have longtime close ties. They are anti-Semites, anti-
Israel anti-American deniers who have expressed admiration for Hitler.
Don’t get confused by reading the cleaned up scrubbed beliefs they present now to be “acceptable” Read all of their writings and speeches.
