U.S. hybrid sales rose 39% in February vs. a year earlier to 23,263, noted autobloggreen.com.
However, the bulk of that reflects Toyota (TM) Prius sales, which surged 70% vs. a year earlier. But in February 2010, Toyota was knee-deep in the sudden acceleration media circus. Prius sales rose just 10% vs. February 2009, near the bottom of the recession and bear market, and with gas prices low. Prius sales dived 34% in February 2009 vs. a year earlier.
As for other hybrids, they rose a more modest 11% vs. a year earlier to 9,724.

Baraq’s $5 a gallon gas is gonna be all the incentives that hybrids need. I’m afraid in this case it won’t be a 3 month burst like we had back in 08 but a long term headache.
If they can get the home refueling compressor to a decent level of reliability, I’m looking strongly at a nat gas Honda.
That makes about 250,000 sales a year. We used to have sales of 10 million a year.
So they finally sold that 4th one...
