Gaddafi has a long history as a killer — and must be stopped
Washington Post ^ | March 15, 2011

Posted on 03/15/2011 7:58:12 AM PDT by La Lydia

... If (Gaddafi) wins the current civil war, he will kill his enemies. A bloodbath is coming...He can be stopped, though. When President Ronald Reagan retaliated for the La Belle attack by bombing Libya, Gaddafi got the message and quieted down. When Gaddafi saw that America went after Saddam Hussein’s (suspected) weapons of mass destruction, he rid himself of his own. He even paid reparations for the Pan Am 103 bombing. Moammar Gaddafi is a madman, but not mad.

...it would be productive if the Obama administration got its marbles out of its mouth. Its pronouncements thus far have been all over the lot: Gaddafi must go, but not if he really doesn’t want to...Ben Rhodes of the National Security Council propounded what the Wall Street Journal has rightly called “The Obama Doctrine.” It goes like this: You first.

Amazingly, the White House wants to wait on nearly everyone to do almost anything — the United Nations, NATO, “multilateral organizations and bilateral relationships"...This is a highfalutin way of saying that first we’re gonna have a meeting and then break into committees and then report back ...

This is very nice — very un-George W. Bush-like, and that is somewhat the point. But Obama has taken prudence to the point of procrastination. The international community...always looks to U.S. leadership. President Nicolas Sarkozy of France established diplomatic relations with the Libyan rebels, but the world hardly noticed or cared. It’s the United States that matters. We have the bucks. We have the expertise. We have the military. We lead, they follow. This may not be as it ought to be. It is, however, how it is....

I am posting this in amazement. Richard Cohen of the Washington Post, a Bush hater of the first order and one of Obama's staunchest Leftie supporters, has turned on him. This is a stunning development. The Muzlim world is experiencing rolling rebellions, in Japan millions of people are "sheltering in place" awaiting the next explosion at a nuclear power plant, gasoline prices in the US are nearing $4 a gallon -- and Obama spent the weekend golfing and talking about Women's History Month on the radio.

I’m at the point where I say let Muslims kill all the other Muslims they want. Fewer for us to have to kill in the end.

Yeah, Sunnis and Shiites at each other’s throats. I’m not seeing the problem here.

A country without a president. I keep saying this and will continue until he is replaced. For our own sake, this should happen sooner than later. If he is not replaced, things will get worse and it will be our own fault.

it’s too late. G-daffy’s forces are on a roll. it’s only a matter of time before the rebels are extinguished. the time for action was weeks ago when they had a chance. dithering by the west has cost the rebels the war.

We need to send more guns and bullets to Gaddafi-duck. He’ll do the important dirty work for us. If the world is lucky maybe he’ll keep going East dispatching the virgins all the way to the Pacific.

Not one American life to be lost for this cause. Let them kill each other. We can drill for oil here.

Mr Cohen just needs to strap on a DD1-227 COLT M203 40mm GRENADE LAUNCHER ON M16A2 20” GOVT PROFILE RIFLE UPPER and charter an old Dakota from Cairo to Tripoli because the President is very busy at the moment taping his NCAA picks . Then later he’s got a round of golf. His appointment secretary isn’t sure when he can get around to sabre rattling over Lybia.

Gaddafi has a long history as a killer — and must be stopped

Yet, according to the libs, Saddam Hussein did not have a long history as a killer, and must not be stopped? What about Castro, another lefty hero? How many Cubans must he torture and kill before the libs stop wearing T-shirts with his picture on them?

i don’t think the Castro t-shirts are anywhere near as popular as the Che t-shirts. The only time libs are in favor of us doing ANYTHING except sending buckets to money overseas is when someone clueless like BO is in the White House.

The situation is A: not our problem, B: in all likelihood being driven by even worse jihadists.

We stand back and watch while the basij murder the Iranian dissidents. Silence. No reason to get in this one, which is probably agitated by Iran.

Richard Cohen, despite his liberal views, has had a long history of objective insight and isn't afraid to take a principled stand that flies in the face of his partisan leanings. Believe it or not, Cohen actually supported the U.S. invasion of Iraq back in 2003.

But I am just as consistent as he is, and I say now with regard to Libya (as I said then with regard to Iraq) that the U.S. has no business getting involved in a military campaign over there that we simply cannot win.

We have the bucks. We have the expertise. We have the military.

What we don't have is a compelling reason to take him out, other than he's a nasty individual. And if that's the only reason, well the world is full of nasty individuals leading countries. Do we go after all of them?
