I presume they are talking about prepaid cell phones.

I love Tracfone. Costs me about $150 a year to have a phone on me at all times.

But the state has a right to monitor all your conversations, and you have no right to resist.

Plus, you're cheating the telecommunications companies out of their exorbitant contract fees.

“But the state has a right to monitor all your conversations, and you have no right to resist.”

The gov’t has the capability of collecting any communication other than two tin cans connected with a string. And even on that one you never know about the guy on the other end...

I use a similar prepaid service through Verizon. 15 bucks a month and if I don’t pay I don’t have service even though as soon as I put more money on it I have service again. I may not get the minutes per dollar but I mostly use it for mobile coms with the wife (also verizon and therefore free) the minutes don’t roll over unless I put more time on before the month is up but I don’t have a contract either. When I was in Europe in the late 90’s almost everyone had these type of phones and I wondered why they weren’t available in the US at the time.
