The large conservative defection on the vote for a three-week continuing resolution Tuesday is cementing a demand by House Republicans for a series of key policy riders in their FY2011 spending bill, H.R. 1 even as top Democrats say they have a zero-riders policy.A key motivation of the 54 Republican defectors was that the short-term CR did not include the policy riders that are in H.R. 1. The riders defund Obamacare, a series of EPA regulations, National Public Radio and Planned Parenthood, among other things.I think the 54 are entrenched, Georgia Rep. Phil Gingrey told The Daily Caller,

I sure hope so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The GOP never
What Boehner doesn’t realize (between crying jags) is that the 54 can stop him in his tracks.
Most of those elected Republicans were elected to stop this bizarre, Free-America destroying BS (nobamacare, funding abortions, funding NPR and so forth). Republicans...Stiffen up...fight those liberal losers who want to make us be like them...L O S E R S!
Ole Boner needs to get on track with the Tea Party Express, because that is the ONLY train worth supporting during this lam-a$$ administration!
If he stands there long enough, Boner WILL get hit - I guarantee it! But, I hope he pulls his head out of his Obama and sees that he needs to join them - not fight them!
“THEM” is US: We the People!
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Seems like a fair trade. Obama gets to keep Obamacare, and we get to unload NPR. Do it, Boehner!
The Republicans are doing nothing to frame this issue to the public in advance. If the R’s do this, the government will shut down. At a minimum, the R’s should pass a separate appropriation for the military and homeland security so the rats can’t whine about defunding a war in progress and defending against terrorism (LOL, the notion of rats whining about this is hilarious—but they will shed many crocodile tears). No big increases. But dare Obama to veto it. He can’t shut the government down over that.
Also, make sure Social security, medicaid and medicare continue to be funded. A separate bill for that.
Then let Obama shut down the government over stuff that has much smaller constituencies. And the issue needs to be framed in advance as spending cuts.
I agree!
Mr. Kinzinger should act like a Republican if he doesn’t like the title RINO.
We the people are sick of their lies and phony tactics so they continue to live high off the hog while it gets worse out here for us. If he doesn’t want to do it; than he needs to get out. We are sick of the Dimwits always having the upper hand because they and the RINOS are nothing but crooked thugs looking only after their own interests and not the peoples interest they were elected to do.
They weren’t elected to fulfill their fantasies. They were elected to do a job and that is to do what is best for America and it’s people.
As far as I am concerned they can rot in jail which is where most of them should be.

Boehner is a dolt!
54 wake up calls for Tammy Faye. Maybe he will grow a spine in time for the showdown. Otherwise it won’t be much of a show. I’m not holding my breath.
“The Republicans are doing nothing to frame this issue to the public in advance”
Yu are so right. They need to send Trump out to explain it in plain English.
don’t hold your breath
Simply put, the party that quakes at the thought of a shutdown has the least amount of leverage, thus Democrats have the most until Republicans find a spine. This weakness will not be on display on this three-week extension, but it will be when Republicans start packaging substantial cuts that Democrats refuse to accept. Part of the strategic reason to oppose short-terms is to regain the leverage in this fight, and to do that, you simply must be prepared to shut the government down. Not rooting for it, but prepared for it. Diplomacy without the threat of military force does not work.
The Rats don't care if the govt shuts down because their base is govt and they know their lifestyle is in danger if they lose. So they rather suffer in the short term and control everything in the long term.
The Pubs have to look at Gov. Walker and the other states that are starting to defund the money laundering scheme. They are hanging tough The Pubs in DC aren't and if they don't win this fight they are done.
Best comment of the day, maybe the week.
Bone head is a wimp and the welfare of the nation hangs in the balance,This is NO time for tears ,He better MAN UP and do what needs done,With a chainsaw!
I have made similar points many times the past few months. It is not good enough for me that they take a stand and lose. If they take a stand on this (a shutdown) they better have a decent plan for winning, and better win. I remember 1995 and it was a huge disappointment, we were assured that the voters would approve of the shutdown. Some still say that losing was winning. This takes political framing and skills. If done right Obama will cave.
Your suggestions make sense.
What showdown? Boehner and his gang have already tipped their hand. More “go along to get along” GOP wimpiness.
Time to stop volunteering and donating to politicians in the hope they will right the ship. Need to re-focus those priorities on upping the protecting of the family financially, physically, spitritually and emotionally. Dark and savage times are amongst us and John Boehner, et al, could care less about us. We are on our own.
