IIRC, Rio is a basket case of slums & high crime, making it a model for chaos.

The Rice statement you quoted is just pathetic. Kaddafi has been brutalizing Libyans since he seized power.

Reagan should have eradicated this scum after the disco bombing.

I think the motivation for our involvement in this war is to boost Obama’s ratings & to distract the public from much bigger problems - jobs, inflation, deficit.

If Obama is so concerned about saving lives, what about Iran, NK, Zimbabwe, & probably a dozen other despot ruled countries?

Hate to say it, but Obama has been clever. Obama didn't start the fight, the UK, France, & Italy did, with UN approval. Kaddafi is so weak & erratic, Obama can't lose, or even have significant body bags. EVERYBODY hates Kaddafi* & they all know he authorized Lockerbie. Many on the Right & moderate Left will be easily impressed.

This is doing Obama a whole lot of good.

* Kaddafi looks like someone I wouldn't want to touch, for fear I might catch what he's got. One of the nastiest public figures I have seen. If anybody needs a bath, a new hairdo & clothes, plus massive plastic surgery, it is Kaddafi. Maybe he has held off on the makeover until the day he really needs it - like today.

Can you name three similarities between Islam and fascism?
Can you name any?

1. Totalitarian/authoritarian
2. Religious supremacy
3. Racism and/or anti-semitism
4. Fanaticism
5. Cultural supremacy
6. Dogmatic
7. Reactionary/revolutionary
8. Intolerance of any other political/cultural/religious belief

Probably lots more, but the missus is calling me to dinner. ;)

On the part of whom?

On the part of those who want to see both sides play "wack a mole" for the next few years.

Well, only certain folks could make this move happen. Who ordered this move that you refer to as “clever”? Who is or are the clever one(s)?

“Can you name three similarities between Islam and fascism?”

1.Complete submission to the state/islam.

2.A belief that women are lesser than men.

3.Vilification of the Jews. Christians, too. Blatant racism.

4.A willingness to use brutal violence, intimidation, & false witness to further their goals.

Give me a few minutes, & I'll list more if you like.

Fascism is a 20th century development of late modernity. Like communism, feminism, and homosexualism, it presupposes that there is no such thing as human nature, and that mankind is clay to be worked by an elite, transformed into a new creature shaped by the will, by reason, by the intellect.

Islam is completely the opposite. Islam presupposes an invariant human nature, created by Allah and unchanged (and unchangeable) since Allah's terminal revelation in the 7th century.

The two could not be more different.

Notice when Bush went to Iraq he talked to the UN, he talked to Congress, he talked to the American People and was not shy about saying regime change was the goal. Obama? Hell no! He's using some fake cover story about "protecting civilians" during a civil or revolutionary war!

Senator Richard Lugar, senior Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee, wonders "who it is in Libya that we're trying to support?"

From sorting through Obama's mishmash of messages, it seems we're supporting all sides. Obama said we're not picking "winners and losers" and while he publicly called for regime change last month now that we're attacking he says removing Gaddafi is not a goal.

Obama really is the president of WTF and it's not "winning the future" either.

That's just a lot of nonsense.
Facism does NOT presuppose that there "is no such thing as human nature". Where the hell do you get such a ridiculous notion.
And I ain't an Islamic scholar, but I doubt that Islam presupposes " an invariant human nature".
And regardless of all that, the 2 end up looking like a duck, walking like a duck and quacking like a pair of ducks.
But maybe we can agree that they are opposites - like about 360 degrees.

The two could not be more different.

Another BTW. I'm pretty sure that both facists and Islamists will kill you if you openly speak against their dogma.
