I also have always heard it’s from damage to the little cells in there. But I did read recently about the miswired brain cells

I work with my acupuncturist on a regular basis and it's amazing how Western and Eastern medicine differ on the genesis of disease. She tells me ringing in the ears has to do with liver/kidney dysfunction. When she treats me for this the tinnitus goes away.

“She tells me ringing in the ears has to do with liver/kidney dysfunction.”

Maybe some truth there ... I have had gout for close to 20 years and the meds I’m told are bad for your liver/kidney, long term. I only use Indocin when I have a gout attack.

The ringing has only been in the last 6 months or so. I am 56.

My husband has a history of kidney problems. Nothing is going on right now that we know of. However, his tinnitus is flaring up, and it’s really bad now.

This is an interesting thread.
