A writer who publicly mocked the victim of a sex assault has resigned from his post at the London School of Economics after only two days.
Nir Rosen, 33, stepped down from his role as a visiting fellow after the university was criticised for employing him.
He got the job at LSE just weeks after resigning in disgrace from New York University for making fun of Lara Logan, a CBS correspondent who was attacked and sexually assaulted by a mob while covering protest in Egypt. He wrote a series of comments about the reporter on his Twitter page and said she was "probably just groped like thousands of other women".
On Friday Mr Rosen announced he had a job at LSE's Global Governance Centre, which accepted £1.5 million from Colonel Gaddafi's Libyan regime. But last night the university said Mr Rosen had resigned. When asked why by the Evening Standard, he blamed the media.
A spokesman for the LSE said: "Nir Rosen today resigned his temporary visiting fellowship at LSE which was an unpaid position. LSE had already made clear it condemned the offensive comments he made about Lara Logan."
Raheem Kassam, director of student rights, said: "How the university management could appoint this man in the first place is anyone's guess."
Real jobs entail receiving payment.
Nir may be discovering that actions and speech have consequences. I certainly hope so.
I want to see him working as a Wal-Mart greeter.
The only job this moron is qualified for now uses the phrase “Do you want fries with that?” repeatedly
I want to see him working as a Wal-Mart greeter.
I don’t think he’s qualified!
