Pastor Terry Jones Says Afghan U.N. Violence 'Proves My Point'

Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who oversaw the burning of a Koran last month, said he did not feel responsible for the violent protest at a United Nations compound in Afghanistan today that left at least 11 dead. Instead, he said the violence proved his point.

"We wanted to raise awareness of this dangerous religion and dangerous element," Jones said. "I think [today's attack] proves that there is a radical element of Islam."

As for the 11 dead, which included seven U.N. staffers and guards, Jones told "Nightline" anchor Bill Weir, "We do not feel responsible, no."

The deaths followed a protest march in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif today against the Koran burning. Jones supervised while another pastor, Wayne Sapp, soaked the Koran in kerosene and burned it.

"We decided to put the Koran on trail," he told Weir. "I was the judge but I did not determine the verdict. I was just a type of referee so that people got their time to defend or condemn the Koran."

Jones said that a "jury" of people from all over Florida debated the radicalism of Islam, and the "Koran was found guilty."

"If the Koran was found guilty then there were four forms of punishment: burning, shredding, grounding, a firing squad," he said. "The one that the people chose was burning. That is why the Koran was burned after it was found guilty."

I do admit that the pastor with his actions walks a very fine and dangerous line but....

There are many of us who fear losing our rights more than we fear radical terrorists of Islam.

I will just add that I know that the positions each of you take come from a deep love and support for our troops and that you want Americans to act in ways that will support them and not put them in harms ways.

I apoligise for the passion I displayed against your posts. I do overall disagree with the position you are all taking but I do 100% respect the place whereas it is coming from.

I do not want to see our troops be underminded and I know this issue has two sides to it.

If I were a Company Comander in Afghanistan, I would think about visiting Pastor Jones on my return and kicking the sh!t out of this attention whore. I don’t like rabid dogs but, recognizing their nature, I’m not going to poke them with a stick unnecessarily.

So where are all the interviews, press conferences, and news releases from all of the Islamist leaders in the U.S. denouncing the massacre of U.N. personnel in Afghanistan and the beheading of two people?!?

Where are all the statements from Mohammadans to the media claiming that while they are critical of the Koran burning, they denounce the slaughter of innocent people by Afghan extremists who were not behaving as Muslims should?!?

Well Jones is a moron. HE had to know that innocents would die as a result of his stunt. He is an attention whore. Had he traveled to Afghanistan or some other insane Muslim country and put his butt on the line he would be walking the walk.

Look Prairie, they are going to do everything they can to bring the world into submission to Islam. They do not need an excuse to be angry - our non-submitted infidel existence makes them angry.

Think about what you are saying: If a man burning a book in Florida can be used to justify sawing the head off of another human being in Afghanistan, who is the insane party? So the 'pastor' doesn't burn a Koran? There will be another reason to shed infidel blood, because their thin skinned demonic 'god' demands it.

I'm afraid you have fallen into the liberal tactic of transferring blame. The cleric in Afghanistan who whipped these people into a frenzy is more to blame - but really, the sub-human teachings that make it acceptable is the root of the evil.

I rented a great movie from Netflix last night. It is a great eye-opener for those not aware of the history of wars in Afghanistan and how nations have tried to conqueor Afghanistan and were defeated.

If Christians cannot live in safety among Muslims, the correct Western response is to expel Muslims from the West, and offer sanctuary to any Christians in Muslim lands who wish to immigrate to the West.

We should NOT cower in fear over what is essentially a hostage situation.
