Look at all of the idiotic religious "caucus" threads. People want their own little sandbox to play in where no dissenting thought shall intrude. No surprise this mentality leaks out into the main forum.

While I'm firmly against brutal, unprovoked ad hominem, we should have a thick enough skin to take some criticism without running to mommy to make the big meany stop. And sometimes the unknown mods are all too willing to drop the hammer.

The rules here are too arbitrary and capricious at times, but what are you going to do about it? It's JR's forum and he can kick us out if he doesn't like the way we do anything here. Somehow I've managed to fly under the radar for a decade. :)

While I freely admit that it is not, if this were my political website, religious threads would have their own private "room," if they were allowed at all. The two most potentially disasterous topics as meat tossed before the wolves are politics and religion. Like gas and flame, they are not a combination conducive to civil discourse or rational behavior.

I won't claim to have "flown under the radar"... "Gargantua" is my seventh or eighth login appellation (Big Stank Ho, America's Conscience, Henry David Perot, to name just a few I've inhabited since 1997-98) since starting here on FR. I tended to get kicked off every few months, back in my earlier, wilder years.

It seems clear that, over time, the Admin Mods change, as their styles of "rule" and levels of tolerance have varied greatly over the years. I think the current AM is likely a woman, so many of the decisions made are so clearly hormonal, and seemingly driven by phases of the moon.

It also seems that the "rules" governing postings here are less-than-finite, as the last time I heard from the AM (four nights ago), he/she/it used profanity publicly in addressing me. Real pissy attitude, too.

Anyway, whoever they are, I don't envy them their job. At times I'm sure it's like being a screw in a prison for the mentally dranged, given how heated the political temperature can get over something so important as "whether Sarah Palin's daughter should have been on 'Dancing With The Stars.'" < sarcasm/off >

Then again, what kind of person even wants to be a screw in a psych ward? Kind of scary when you really think about it...

How convenient.

On an OKC bombing thread, you attack Christians.

Are the Jooooos next on your list?
