Smith had been part of a group of picketers, led by Al Sharpton , head of the National Action Network and Morris Powell , leader of the 125th Street Vendor's Association, who had been protesting the eviction of Sikhulu Shange, owner of the Record Shack who was subletting from Fred Harari, the Jewish owner of Freddy's.
The picketing, which had gone on for months, had led Harari to seek relief with the State Supreme Court. In papers filed just one day before the fire, he said, "Recently, the protesters have made motions of striking a match and throwing it on outside clothing displays or in the doorway of the store." An affidavit by Kareem Brunner, a black security guard killed in the blaze, said that he had been called a "cracker lover" and "would get mine as a traitor [to the black race]." Brunner, was the only black that Smith did not order out of the store before setting it afire.

Smith apparently set the fire later, so it probably didn’t meet the legal standard for incitement to riot (as it might have had he set the fire during one of the protests when others were threatening to burn the store). Sharpton was however at least indirectly responsible and we need to remind voters of this every day. This is what Obama supports: “A Molotov cocktail, the flash of a match/ and your white-owned Jew store is a big heap of ash!”
Sharpton, the individual under whose leadership and supervision the National Action made what might well have constituted terroristic threats against a Jewish owned store and an African-American employee who was in fact killed the next day.
Waiting to hear how Holder erases blame for this racist/bigoted act of violence and murder ("His people" were involved after all).
And just think Fox News has Al Sharpton on all the time as if he is someone credible...
The ignorance of the left continues to amaze me. The building was owned by a BLACK church, which ORDERED the white Jewish tenant to evict the black subtenant. But a black evicting a black doesn’t make for good race baiting.

Knowing Sharpton from his involvement here in the Tawana Brawley case, the Colin Ferguson case, the Bensonhurst and Howard Beach deaths, the Crown Heights riots, and many more, and knowing the current office holder associates with him doesn’t rehabilitate Sharpton or build my esteem for him, just further erodes any I had, or could have been expected to, for the current office holder. I imagine the community-organizer-in-chief was either the local Chicago version of Sharpton, or closely associated with even more exact local likenesses. And that says it all.

Sharpton is a racist and an anti-Semite. This is clear from his own words and actions. He is a tax cheat and a liar and has never helped anyone but himself. In a sane world it seems impossible that anyone with a shred of credibility would speak to this man much less support him and his racist cash mill called Action Network.
This speaks volumes about Obama to bring the office of the President of the United States to the alter of a race hustler. I am embarrassed.
Agree but to me it goes far beyond that. Look at the times he is given air time, and hosts being deferential to him. I remember one time CNN had David Duke on and DD was trying to be articulate and respectful as a guest, and Frank Sesno was so interruptive and “disgusted” (no doubt fake) that he cut him off repeatedly then stopped the “interview” Duke was laughing at him as the cameras panned to a “look at me” Sesno, the great white do-gooder liberal.
