Libyan stalemate is bad news for Samantha Power, Obama key advisor
Irish Central ^ | April 13, 2011 | Niall O'Dowd

The continued stalemate in Libya is not good news for Samantha Power widely seen as one of the architects of the Libyan intervention. Power, who works with the National Security Council, has been touted as the next secretary of State if Obama is re-elected but if Libya continues to be a stalemate it will not help her case...

But the original script went wrong from there with rebels advancing, then retreating like a bad Charlie Chaplin scene before the current stalemate. Stalemate is not good in that corner of the world, and a leaderless state, like Somalia can soon become a breeding ground for all kinds of radicals. That is why Power and the US government are surely pushing had right now for a negotiated solution given the clear lack of hope that the rebels can outfight Ghadaffi any time soon.

Back in America Power’s higher profile after she was singled out for pushing the Libyan intervention policy has brought problems too.

She is consistently hounded, unfairly in my opinion, as Anti-Israeli and the commotion from the right wing press is all about ensuring she never gets to take Hillary Clintons’ job as some have posited she will.

So she needs a Libya breakthrough and soon if she is to remain the point person on the issue and continue her work in combating genocide.

But Ghadaffi did not survive for over 40 years by lying down easily and he may prove willing and able to outlast even the best international efforts to oust him. That would be bad news for Power who had reckoned the tyrant would fall before this.

From everything I’ve read, she is calling the shots. Despite the fact that she has never done anything in her life but sit a classroom and write a book. No experience in the real world. No apprenticeship under someone who knows what she or he is doing; no White House or State Department experience. Just straight from writing a book that Obama liked to the National Security Council to sending our Air Force into combat. Frightening.

Clinton offered them $30 Billion if they made peace. They say “we’ll take $5 billion and war”. Which they will get.

I like to call it the “Gumball Rally” as I watch them race around the desert highway trying not to hit or shoot each other. Yeha

As frightening, as these two; (and the assorted like-minded, group thinkers that are embedded in Obama's hierarchy) is that other than Glenn Beck(when on topic) - no one else has made a public assault/challenge against Obama and his radical 'Front' who engagement is no less than a 'coup' of America's Constitutional Government.

(Too bad Beck is not 'as' available as we head into Election. He brought a great deal to people who otherwise, do not 'go there. )

No question, our economy is critical; but Repubs are making huge mistake if they ignore these 'chinks' in the Obama facade and the enemy that lies behind it. It is disgusting and demoralizing to hear various Repubs, 'still' offer that Obama, is "actually" a nice guy. . .Can only think, these people sleep with toads.

Those Repubs who call Obama 'friend' - (and we hear them) need no enemies; and their blindness is their peril; and for certain, it is ours.)

So true! I was working at a presidential museum a few years back (a democrat pres from the 30’s and 40’s, oops guess that gave it away!) and she came to speak at some fundraising dinner (along with Cornel West). I was appalled by her comments. Openly socialist, anti-Jewish, and hatred for George Bush and the military dominated her remarks. And she received loud and enthusiastic applause.
