How long can Sarah Palin put off Iowa? She has almost no presence in the state.

There are many problems with your strategy but one of them is that we all have our own ideas of what constitutes a conservative. It is not clear cut.
I know of people who say it's either Huck or no one. I do not consider Huck to be a real conservative. I guess Santorum would fill the bill. Actually, many of them would. I made a post somewhere else that because I lack principles, if I thought Huck was our best bet to defeat Obama, I would be willing to vote for him.

How does Mitch Daniels sound? Starting your campaign by insulting a significant portion of your base is not necessarily recommended.

“they are larger states and show how well candidates play in solid GOP territory (SC) and a key “swing state” (FL).”
Well, this is true and yet the GOP allowed cross over voting and put in McCain...I still believe it was a set up in FL (my home is there)....I think the Democrats moved the date of the primaries in FL so that the candidates couldn’t be counted and that allowed voters to cross over and put McCain in....the Republican party controls votes by allowing states to have cross over voting....it is STUPID!!!!....the GOP candidate is chosen with a lot of DEM input. We need pure primaries....either party or Independent...no cross overs allowed!

Yep, Iowa is not that important. It’s real function is providing fodder for the media.

The parties need to stop having their primaries subsidized by the states via running them by the elections board. Then they can restrict their primaries however they want to, and not deal with state-by-state laws that are not made in the best interests of the parties.

I agree. She ought to get herself in there. NH is a lost cause, but Iowa needs wooing. And if she doesn’t run this year, she’ll be viewed more as a celebrity than a statesman.
To: Crimson Elephant
From a strategy point of view, both Palin and Huckabee should be barnstorming the heck out of Iowa right now and basically not worry about New Hampshire. Simply put forth the theory/opinion to the media that NH is meaningless because it basically is a home for Mitt Romney, dont put any money there or Nevada and dump your money into Iowa and South Carolina. I would embrace a similar strategy...candidates shouldn't even waste time with New Hampshire. A liberal hellhole that has been stinking up the GOP nomination process for far too long. NH and their 'open' primary is irrelevant...don't waste money, let Romney have the state, let the media have their collective orgasm, then let the real battle begin down south among true conservatives.

Id vote for anyone who refuses to grovel to the cry-baby voters in Iowa and NH, two of the most inconsequential states, who would have no discernible worth were it not for the media carnival they hold every four years. Exactly. Their pitiful cries of "Look at me...look at me!" every four years are kind of pathetic...

People clearly don't know the Gov's political history.
The groundwork for her Alaskan Gubernatorial campaign was also kept under the radar for a long time. Palin won the campaign because of her skills as a retail politician. It's a mistake to think that those skills won't transfer over to her Iowa campaign.
There is already a grassroots campaign working for Palin: Organize4Palin. We know who the big players and grassroots groups are in Iowa, and we have already established contact. Some of us have uprooted ourselves from our homestate to move to Iowa to campaign for her.
Palin supporters (especially those in Iowa),
DON’T WAIT UNTIL PALIN ANNOUNCES!
Palin and her aide Rebecca Mansour have already given the green-light, without “officially” announcing.
I've highlighted tweets that Rebecca Mansour has retweeted and other hints that Palin has given over the past few months:Why a Palin 2012 Run is Inevitable
Most notably, her aide is pushing Organize4Palin. Check out this tweet from Rebecca Mansour:

I might add that I have been a Palin supporter BEFORE she was picked by McCain but I never had the opportunity to meet her. The other night, quite by accident, I met her...up close and personal, and she is a true winner in every sense of the word. People that haven’t met her as yet are in for a real treat! Even my daughter who is totally apolitical “fell in love” with her and is now going to join me in volunteering in her campaign.
