Our Government did it to prevent his family from burying him and creating a shrine around the burial site. (Fox is reporting this)
OBL’s oldest and closest brother already is making demands that government turn OBL’s body over to them so that “he can be buried with his own”. (this was on CNN this morning)

What did they do with the other bodies? Buried them at sea or left in the compound for more “traditional” Islamic burial?
Buried 50 feet down in a landfill would have served.
I can understand burying him at sea to prevent the final resting place of his body becoming a rallying point, but there are so many unanswered questions by such a rapid disposal of the body. For instance, there was the rumor that he had health problems, with possible kidney failure and the requirement for frequent dialysis. I hope a thorough autopsy was at least performed before disposal.
I say respect their wishes and trot out the the whole family and friends for gangplank duty, and throw in CNN for good measure.
I don’t understand why his body wasn’t flown here to the USA. Don’t dump it in the sea. Call it a war trophy.
