Sarah Palin takes jabs, makes no promises ("No need to destroy people’s lives over bait.")

LEMOORE, Calif. — In what often sounded like a stump speech, Sarah Palin tailored a searing critique of big government to an audience in California’s Central Valley on Sunday, telling supporters the region’s woes could be blamed on politicians picking "a 3-inch fish" over jobs.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, speaking at a community college arena here, was referring to the delta smelt, a dwindling local species, protections for which have cut water shipments to the region and turned fertile land fallow.

"This faceless government takes away their lifeline, which is water, and they did it, they turned off the water, to protect a 3-inch fish," Palin said. "Where I come from, a 3-inch fish, we call that bait. There is no need to destroy people’s lives over bait."

In her remarks, which drew hoots from a friendly audience 30 miles south of Fresno, Palin said that her morning jog through nearby farmland reminded her of California’s economic potential.

"The topographical diversity of this land, to see God’s creation ... for mankind’s responsible use," she said. "The only thing standing in the way is a government that doesn’t understand they need to back off.

"Some of these folks don’t even know how to grow a potted plant, and they’re going to tell you guys how to grow your crops without water?"(continued)

“Student protesters, expected to picket the event, were nowhere to be seen outside the college’s just-finished arena.”

LOL!

That’s because they were sent to the pep rally in DC on Sunday night!

I can’t believe Arnold wouldn’t have done something about that one. All it would take would be for a Republican governor to open the floodgates and dare Washington to do anything about it.

Because Arnold was not really a Republican; he is a Kennedy. He does what Skeletor Marie tells him to do.

Delta Smelt insanity is being replicated elsewhere.

Now there's a desert lizard endangering an oil/gas pipeline between TX and NM.

Doesn't matter what's in the White House, R or D.

During the Bush years, here in San Diego a school that hasn't been built because of fairy shrimp. Those are common but it's assumed these are he endangered ones. No one will pay for the DNA test to show it is the endangered version, it's just presumed.
