Romney makes passionate case for violating personal freedom at state level (Just Quit Mitt)

When he announced his candidacy, I debunked what I considered to be the top five failed defenses of RomneyCare. In his speech this afternoon, Mitt Romney employed all of them in his desperate attempt to distance himself from ObamaCare despite its stark similarities to the plan he signed as governor of Massachusetts.

Romney tried to differentiate between the national health care law, which he described as a “government takeover” and the Massachusetts approach, which he said was merely about expanding coverage.

But both plans are remarkably similar – they force people to purchase government-approved insurance policies, expand Medicaid, and provide subsidies to individuals to purchase government-designed “private” insurance policies on government-run exchanges. Romney said his plan wasn't “government insurance,” but that's a red herring given that Congress was never able to pass a public option.

Romney says it is perfectly OK for States to shove a requirement to purchase something just for existing but the feds can’t.

This is a very tortured interpretation of the 9th and 10th Amendments and doesn’t change the fact that romney-care is just as bad a misuse of State power.

Romney is worried about looking like a flip flopper. Never mind that he was pro life, decided to participate in Massachusetts politics and became pro choice. Then after leaving the governorship to pursue a bid for the presidency he again turned pro life.

There’s the whole problem. Even if it was constitutional, it would be dysfunctional. Forcing people to buy guarantees that they will not get value for their money.

Romney Rewards one of the State's Leading Anti-Marriage Attorneys by Making him a Judge
Romney told the U.S. Senate on June 22, 2004, that the "real threat to the States is not the
constitutional amendment process, in which the states participate,
but activist judges who disregard the law and redefine marriage . . ."
Romney sounds tough but yet he had no qualms advancing the legal career of one
of the leading anti-marriage attorneys. He nominated Stephen Abany to a District Court.
Abany has been a key player in the Massachusetts Lesbian and Gay Bar Association which,
in its own words, is "dedicated to ensuring that the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision
on marriage equality is upheld, and that any anti-gay amendment or legislation is defeated."

leave them for his liberal Democrat successor!

editor of Lawyers Weekly, said Romney is "bucking tradition" by resisting the urge to

He added that Romney has been criticized for failing to make judicial appointments.
"The legal community has consistently criticized him for not filling open seats quickly enough

I have read Mitt's book "No Apology" which has a very interesting explanation of how Mass. Health Plan was researched and developed. Mitt's version had no coercion but helped young men obtain lower cost policies at a time they were being rejected (for anti-selection reasons). It also redirected existing Federal subsidies for emergency room visits into the plan which made it economically more feasible.

It is sad how too many people are balkanizing themselves in attacking Mitt and using knee-jerk bigotry. You guys need to read the book and become better informed. It does not help to use Alinskyite tactics and needlessly confuse the issue!

I'll vote third party or write in a candidate before I vote for somebody like Mitt Romney. We should not be facing two elections in a row where we are forced to choose between a RINO and a Marxist.

If it happens, then there can be no clearer sign that the GOP is finished and we need to seriously think about a conservative party and how we can make the GOP a third party.
