About fifteen years ago patriots were being ridiculed, mocked, threatened, laughed at, and denounced by the same (kind) of people who are today doing it to the "birthers."
After all the media were backing the government's version of events at Waco and Ruby Ridge and well everybody just knew that the Branch Davidians and cult leader David Koresh were abusing children and amassing a ton of combat weapons to attack any and all. And that racist dangerous whacko Weaver family.. I tell you . . . .
Well it took years but Congress finally held real hearings and things were not entirely like it had been reported for years by both government and media. Even today things are being disclosed.
At my age I remember Mao's "agrarian reformers," Alger Hiss, Senator Joe McCarthy, and many things that just had to be because the government and the media said so.
They lied or were just plain wrong.

On a direct level, you are correct. Governments Lie. Even ours. And they never want to be held accountable for their actions.
On another note, why have people not commented on the story of the deaths of Gaddafi's son and grandchildren. At the time it happened, it had the possibility of blowing up the 0bama administration. With the attack in Pakistan on "OBL", it was as forgotten as the $2 Trillion in missing money from the Pentagon on 9/10/01.
