Land hadn’t been taken in the first place, as far as I know.

They don't usually BUY the land from the owners until the highway route is established and all the environmental impact studies are done.

My guess is most of the "rightful owners' are going to be mighty disappointed that the state isn't going to be buying their land near I35 now.

Any of you people ever live near an Interstate carrying lots of heavy truck traffic?
