A blog post for the CDC posted only days ago, "Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse."
The goal of the tongue-in-cheek blog, is to draw attention to disaster preparedness. Do Americans have the basics in the event of a terror attack, an earthquake or a hurricane? Yes, even for zombies?
"We were on the cutting edge of the housing market crash and with our first child we started looking at our finances seriously and decided that borrowing 100 percent for the house we couldn't afford," said Amelia resident Chris Taylor.
Chris and Amy Taylor aren't really worried about zombies. They are, however, concerned about something much more likely happening. The U.S. dollar crashing.

No.
Whaaaaa?
they decided that borrowing 100% for the house they couldn't afford was what?
anyway, I'm not sure i'm prepared for the meltdown.
PING!
Not a lot of useful information, but might make you feel like you are the only ones worried and two, reading this will show you how to totally blow your OPSEC.
The US dollar crashing may yet lead to the zombie apocaylpse. Most of our cities of any size have a sizeable zombie population, even today.
I found this repulsive. Why would the CDC do something like that? And why would they want to discourage people from preparing for disaster? Isn’t that what caused many of the problems and deaths after Katrina?
It was mostly done tongue in cheek to get people to relize and talk about the need to take steps to make themselves prepared for emergencies.
It certainly got the attention of a lot of people who would have otherwise ignored it and at least got them thinking.
Someone at the CDC has free time. The taxpayers thank you for your help.
Maybe if you hire someone else, protocols for dealing with Vampires and Werewolves will be developed.
Yes I understand that. But, are people going to take it seriously? I didn’t. Course I’ve always been as prepared as I could be for disastrous in the area I’ve lived in. I could see how many people would just brush it off. It comes across as something you would do as a joke, or to a teen or child, instead of on an adult.

MYFOXNY.COM - It’s like a flash mob gone bad. Security footage from a Manhattan Dunkin’ Donuts shows a group of youths climbing on counters, throwing chairs and throwing tables in a violent attack on workers.
It happened at the Dunkin’ Donuts on Christopher Street in Greenwich Village. A $2,000 hot chocolate machine was reportedly destroyed in the attack.
Similar attacks have targeted other stores in the neighborhood in the previous weeks.

Tactics discussed that are useful in opposing zombie hoards can also be applied to hoards of those with recently deceased government benefit checks seeking to eat your brains, and your food, and loot your house, etc.
Let’s see, we have their names, their city, we could probably narrow it down to a few addresses, use google earth, find some place with a garden, and mark it on a target map for “emergency supplies”.
Yeah, don’t be stupid, people. Keep your mouth shut.
I know a lot of people who started taking Preparedness seriously after watching a disaster movie which cause them to think: What would I do?
I fully expect that if the up comming movie ‘Remnants’
( http://www.remnants-movie.com/ ) is half as good as the trailer that there will be a lot more people taking prepping seriously.
“Yeah, dont be stupid, people. Keep your mouth shut.”
That is probably the most sage advice that I have seen offered on this site in quite a while!
The tactics do port across - but its notable that the CDC didn’t recommend buying or learning how to use a firearm.
Of course they wouldn’t.
They don’t want you to be THAT independent of them.
They just want you to take some pressure off the system by preparing a bit yourself.
Firearms, though, that’s a whole different level. Firearms allow you to resist their “help” as well as defend yourself from zombies.
There’s no way the author would have gotten this little spoof published if he recommended in any way some way to physically protect yourself.
I sure hope your right. Cause right now it looks like the whole world is on fire and I have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg. I’d hate to think in my little area that we are one of just a few preparing. We have many elderly in my area, which is hard. So many are living close to the edge as it is. We are trying hard to prepare for ourselves with some for others, but, it’s costly.
Some of the the most heartbreaking and depressing parts of the book ‘One Second After’ were scenes that took place at a nursing home.
You have to think of preparedness and “helping people” in this way -
if you don’t need help, those FEMA/Gov’t resources can be used on those you can’t help.
Your first responsibility is you and your own, and by this, I mean that you are responsible to make sure that you minimize your burden on others. If everyone did this instead of waiting on their rooftops for rescue, those that truly need the help will get it.
