I’d say McCain may have survived because of his pick of Palin as his running mate. Then, having won the primaries, he’s what we had to go with. I know that’s what did it for me. I voted for Palin; not McCain.

OTOH, if Romney (God help us) get’s the nod this time, I doubt there’d be another similar transfer of support, regardless of who he selects as a running mate. Once burned is enough. If he can’t figure that out then he’s dumber than I think.

I held my nose and voted for McCain for two reasons 1) His pick of Sarah Palin and 2) He had a conservative record in his early years and he was making noises like he was returning to that! Ha - fat chance!

However, I WILL NOT vote for Romney or Guiliani or Huntsman. There comes a point where we have to take a stand and say no more!!
