Dem senators want to warn states against targeting Planned Parenthood

Thirty Democratic senators sent a letter to the Obama administration on Thursday, urging them to warn Medicaid directors at the state level that it's against the law to block Medicaid funds or Title X family planning funds from going to clinics that provide abortion services, like Planned Parenthood.

The letter comes in response to Indiana's new law, which took effect May 10, barring state agencies from entering contracts with or giving grants to entities (besides hospitals) that perform abortions.

Republican lawmakers in virtually every state this year have pushed legislation to restrict abortion rights, as have Republicans at the federal level, but the new Indiana law represents the boldest state-based challenge to Planned Parenthood yet. Now other states are now following Indiana's lead, USA Today reports. Bills to cut funding to Planned Parenthood recently saw action in Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin, Kansas and North Carolina.

The 30 senators wrote to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius that excluding clinics like Planned Parenthood from Medicaid violates rules saying the federal funds must go to "any willing provider" that is qualified, as well as Medicaid's "equal access" requirement. They point out that 48 percent of Planned Parenthood' patients are Medicaid patients, and 60 percent of women who use health care clinics like Planned Parenthood say they are their main health care providers.

Ah, got it. IMO it is past high time to fight back. First step, ignoring the leftist unconsitutitonal junk. They threaten? So what.

If abortions aren’t funded by the state, only idiots will have babies. If abortions are outlawed, only med-school dropouts will perform abortions? If abortions aren’t funded by the state, lots more outlaws will be there to have outlawed guns? Eef abortions aren’t mandatory, ze inferior races, zey vill continue to breed. (trying to paraphrase 2nd Amendment slogan to sound pro-abortion; doesn’t work).

It sounds like the American people are beginning to wake up, and this is not pleasing our masters

Yes it is. They take care of your health, and also pay themselves with your money, which they also take care of. Only they can do this, because only they care.

Planned Parenthood is a health-care provider? Who knew?

Well, that sort of spells out what Obama's vision of health-care is for the rest of us, doesn't it?

Why do dems believe it is so important for the government to fund killing babies?

It's because the Dems are all about absolute power.

They try to sell women on this idea that they can be as irresponsible as they want, and if they get pregnant, it's completely legal to get rid of that inconvenient baby. The baby doesn't contribute anything to society; it's a drain on resources; therefore, from a utilitarian standpoint, there is nothing wrong with killing it.

By accepting the premise that the only value of people is the amount of labor they can provide to "society," these "pro-choice" women tacitly accept the premise that they, too, can be just as easily terminated when they make the transition from being producers to being burdens on society.

While the Democrats will make a lot of noise about "freedom" and "rights" in their support for abortion, they truly support neither.
