My point was that training is necessary for a well-rounded marksman.

William Tell, I used to train young soldiers with the M-14, M-16 and the .45; the country boys had no problem catching on and excelled in markmanship; the city boy enlistees however had usually never fired a weapon, the Army and I taught them how.

I don't intend to infringe on anyone's 2nd Ammendment rights, I just want somebody who buys a gun to know what the hell their doing with it!

Well, I do agree that training (both in the sense of instruction as well as practice) is vital.

And the legislature of Kalifornia just wants to make sure that people have a good reason to carry a gun. The result is that local law enforcement almost universally refuses to issue concealed carry permits.

Certainly you are not among those who believe that every good thing must be mandated by the government?

I'm all for combining sex education in the schools with gun education. Every child in the U.S. can be expected to know how to handle firearms and what the laws on use of firearms are. As far as free, law-abiding adults go; the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
