Anyone and everyone 50 and younger should demand that SS and Medicare be halted immediately. Consider the payments into the system just another tax and cut our losses. We can figure out what to do with those dependent on the system AFTER we stop digging.
I guarantee you that SS is $0 in my retirement planning. Medicare might hang around but I am sure SS won’t.
Medicare should be just a slightly more gentle and respectful form of Medicaid for the elderly, and likewise, SS means tested welfare for which the elderly are eligible. Sure, there should be some form of transition period, but SS and medicare payments were additional taxes on income. The supplemental retirement income ruse doesn’t match with reality and is unsustainable.
