(CNSNews.com) – Ted Olson, former Solicitor General under President George W. Bush said he is “proud” of Lady Gaga’s support for same sex marriage and credited celebrities for raising public awareness of the issue.
“Lady Gaga – I’m very proud that she announced last week that one of the songs on her album – I have no idea which, I don’t – was inspired by the Proposition 8 case – she really said that so I accept her,” said Olson on Monday during a keynote address at a U.S. Justice Department Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) ceremony called “Moving Equality Forward – the Power of Allies.”
Record producer Fernando Garibay has said the song he produced called “Americano” on Lady Gaga’s latest album was “directly inspired” by the Proposition 8 ruling. Lady Gaga sings the lyrics, “If you love me, we can marry on the West Coast/ On a Wednesday, en el verano, en agosto."
Olson, recognized as one of TIME Magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2010 for his effort with David Boies to overturn California's prohibition on same sex marriage also credited actress Marisa Tomei for her contributions to raising awareness of Proposition 8.
“The Academy Award-winning actress Marisa Tomei has been reading the parts of two of the female plaintiffs in public parks along with other actors just so that people could just stand around and hear what the testimony was in that case,” he said.
“So, we’re doing everything that we can to involve people in this case so that they talk to other people so that they learn something about this whole issue. We, of course, cannot begin to quantify the degree to which proposition 8 has contributed to changes in public opinion.”
Associate Attorney General Thomas Perrelli, who introduced Olson at the ceremony, called the Obama administration’s decision not to defend the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) a “landmark change” in America but said LGBT citizens are still at risk.
“In February, on President Obama’s order, the Attorney General notified the Speaker of the House [John Boehner] that in two pending cases, the Justice Department would not defend the constitutionality of section three of DOMA, which prevents the federal government from recognizing marriages between same sex couples,” said Perrelli.
“And while those are landmark changes that have occurred over the last year, we know that LGBT citizens remain at risk of discrimination and violence.”
She gets her inspiration for her music by smoking pot and drinking whiskey.. in the past she used copius amounts of cocain..she may be smart but is another train wreck ..waiting to happen..and our children idolize her..God help us..

His presentation to The Supreme Court after the 2000 presidential election on behalf of George W. Bush, and the fact that his wife was murdered by the 9/11 terrorists on one of the worst days in our Country's history.

Barbara loved him and he loved her. I am sure it comes down to that. Most people ask their soon to be married what political affiliation they are and he said Republican and she did too. Very few people are as politically attuned as we are. We had a laundry list of questions about politics for our spouses before we got married....lol. Most people don’t. Plus, I think losing her on 9/11 made him bitter and angry and probably the antithesis of what he wants was. Love will do that to you. I can understand his anger and bitterness about losing his wife, but to change as dramatically as he did is usual but unfortunately it happened.
So his excuse now is that he’s a mental case and joins the perverts.
That is how I must reconcile it also - that losing her in such a tragic way has somehow altered him irrevocably... so very, very sad. I loved Barbara and miss her!

Ted Olson saved us from Al Gore and certain doom. Regardless of his actions since then, we all own him our undying gratitude and appreciation.

Ted Olson didn’t save us from Al Gore. The law saved us from Al Gore. Thankfully it was upheld though the opinions of the Justices wasn’t even fully correct in how this was achieved.
Ted Olson is a pervert. He now perverts the Constitution in favor of perverts. In his opinion the people should have no say in how their communities or country is governed. He has no respect for the right to representation of the People.
Ted Olson deserves no respect. He is endangering our freedom and the future of our children.
No one deserves a pass on trying to destroy society.
