This internal suspicionless Homeland Security checkpoint took place on Southern Arizona's SR86 near Mile Post 146 on January 8, 2008.

The location is over 40 miles North of the Southern Border on a highway that never intersects the border. Additional information is available at:

Not sure what to think about that video, but also can’t imagine where there’s a full-scale checkpoint for every single vehicle that passes through. Surely they have a PROFILE of the type of driver and vehicle most likely worthy of detainment, even if they can’t admit it.

What I see is a Border Patrol Agent actually doing what she gets paid for. Trying to stop illegals from going deep into America.

We don’t cry over seat belt stops or Alcohol check points , why cry over this.

I also have the feeling this clown went through the checkpoint once and came back with his camera to harass the officer. His camera was too close to hand and his attitude was already in high gear. He is lucky they didn’t pull him out and slap the pee out of him. I found his attitude unacceptable. The Officer did not disrespect him whil he was disrespecting her. She did not deserve that harrassment.

Because Police/Homeland Security usually do not let people go when legally challenged.

It’s not a Homeland Security checkpoint. It’s a Border Patrol checkpoint.
I know Border Patrol falls under DHS but there is a big difference between the Border Patrol and the other agencies that fall under DHS.

You really believe our government gives a $hit about illegal alliens? They need the votes and the labor from the illegals

Don’t you get it that it’s for us. We are being conditioned and brain washed to think its okay for unlawful searches and seizures even though it’s a complete violation of our 4th Amendment Bill of Rights.

Here is another video for you. Ten to one some of these Border Patrol agents (that have butcher the English language) are illegal. We now have Illegal Immigrants harassing US Citizen and violating our Bill of Rights. Yeah I’m sure that is what the men at D-Day died for.

Every highway that will allow you to go from the Mexican border to an Interstate Highway has checkpoints. The only way to avoid them is to go cross-country, and the UAVs watch for that kind of thing.

Sorry, meant to add - they do have a profile, but everyone gets looked at anyway.

I don’t fit the profile, and 99.9% of the time I get waved through without stopping. Once in a blue moon, the officer looks into the vehicle to make sure I’m not transporting illegals. I guess it’s so they can say they aren’t profiling.

So the best thing to do is to harass Border Patrol agents for shits and giggles.

They are not on the Border. They are 40 miles inside at these check points.

What I see is another "Your papers please" Fedrale nowhere near the border she is supposed to protect. Ship her to the border. Give her a nice weapon, and orders to shoot to kill anyone crossing into the United States at any but authorized points of entry.

Internal security checkpoints. Where have I seen that before? Oh yeah, the USSR. Now I know why this photo looks familiar:

Obama is the reincarnation of Nikolai Yezhov, Stalin's murderous NKVD thug who envisioned and enthusiastically implemented the Great Purge.

Some of us *DO* resent and disagree wholeheartedly with the fishing expeditions called DWI checks and seatbelt checkpoints.

You are aware that the goalposts in both examples you cited have been moving closer to police state levels every year, aren’t you?

Case in point: Seat belts laws, we were told, would NEVER, EVER, EVER be used as an excuse to pull vehicles over. Seat belt fines would only be handed out *IF* you were caught in a moving violation.

As for drunk driving, it once was at the discretion of the cop. Then a standard of intoxication (of 0.15%!) was developed by the AMA and adopted by various lawmakers.

Years go by, people adapt to the new rules, drinking driving offenses drop off, so the standards are lowered (0.10%). Lo and behold, a huge spike in drinking driving! Call out the cavalry, we’ve got a real issue here! The MADD-women are on the rampage again! Then the numbers charged drop off, and ta-da!

Same thing, only now it’s down to 0.08%, and there was another spike. Imagine that...

Up here in BC, they have dropped the roadside suspension level down to 0.05%, but they tow your car AND you get a ~$200. fine. For having a glass of wine after dinner.

I don’t know of anyone who is even tipsy after a single drink, but there you have it.

My son is a Border Patrol Agent in AZ.

You have no idea as to their training and what they do, and why.

So, be educated: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVBF05MtJaE

Hundreds of times this yahoo passed through a BP checkpoint and tried to pull his nonsense. 99% of the time he was cowed by his ignorance and meekly drove on. He posts the blooper snippets and unfairly tries to paint the entire BP as what is represented on his video.

20,000 Agents, up from 8,000 when Bush took over, and yeah, we are not serious about stopping illegals.

Direct your rantings towards democrats as they are the ones trying to give illegals the vote. The BP is NOT part of that effort. Not hardly. No way.

You certainly don't know about the dedication they have to stop the illegals—and the deadly risks they take.

They are Border Patrol Agents, not Border Guards.

Border Guards stay on the line at the border. Border Patrol Agents patrol the vast desert region where most illegals enter, and because the area is so vast, they can't be everywhere at once, and this means illegals get through. Hence nearby checkpoints.

So, using your feelings on this, once an illegal gets past the fence, all bets are off and he is free to be picked up and be driven all the way to Iowa if he wishes.

Just who supports illegals? Answer: Clearly the ones trying to stop the Border Patrol from doing their job.

You whine about illegals and then object to the Border Patrol catching illegals. Or is it you don't object to illegals and then whine about the Border Patrol doing their job. Which is it?

It is a more effective use of manpower not to position border patrols right at the border (particularly when there's no fence). Let the illegals walk ten hours through the desert and snatch them at a highway checkpoint. Many a time in Arizona I've seen BP units cruising the highways, stopping to pick up exhausted, thirsty, hungry illegals hunkered down under every other roadside shade tree.

1) My beef is not with your son. It’s with the Feds policy towards illegal immigration. So quit trying to make this personal.

2) That video is laughable. I noticed they had to disable comments. I’m sure everyone else was laughing as much as I did. It’s insulting to those of us who have served in the military too.

3) We have around 20 million illegals in our nation. On top of that our government gives them free medical care, education, welfare and housing. That alone should tell you something about their view of “illegal” immigration.

4) I want them to their jobs, but don’t violate my Bill of Rights in the process. This is just like the TSA at the airports. They’re too chicken $hit to profile.

How can you honestly say the government is serious about illegal immigration? You sound like a politician! BTW, the Republicans as a whole are almost just as guilty as the Democrats. Look at how they have handled illegal immigration when they had a lot of Republicans in congress and the White House. Yes there were some Republicans that were strongly for tightening the border, but it did not matter.
