While Rep. Anthony Weiner may no longer have the benefit of Congress’ generous health care plan once he resigns, he will still be able to collect his pension and other benefits that could total more than $1 million during his lifetime.

According to an analysis of his available benefits by the National Taxpayers Union, the New York Democrat’s pension and a savings plan lawmakers have access to similar to a 401(k) could be worth $1.12 million to $1.28 million.

It is good to be able to unilaterally determine your own pay, benefits, and working conditions.

No wonder he’s whistling happily in the trés-chiqué Hamptons. He’s gots wads of hard cash stuffed in his ball-less briefs.

He's been there some 13 years and he's in his mid 40’s. Unless they have some sort of exemption he can't touch the retirement money until he's 55 or so. He's got $5 mil in campaign money he's not supposed to touch.

This is a typical liberal analysis that doesn't comprehend inflation and interest. Not that Wiener deserves anything, at all, but an annuity that pays $40,000 per year until death, starting at retirement age, for someone in his 40’s would cost substantially less than a million bucks.

He won’t lose his health care as long as Huma remains married to him and she remains a federal employee. He will be covered under her insurance.

from article:

“Weiner announced Thursday that he would resign from the House in the wake of a sexting scandal that had engulfed the liberal firebrand for weeks and distracted his party.

As of Thursday evening, however, Weiner had yet to actually resign and would technically remain a Member of Congress until next week at the earliest.”

He's never held a real job. Weiner's been in Congress some 13 years (he's in his mid 40’s). His Congressional pension and savings plan could be worth $1.12-1.28 million. Unless they have some sort of exemption he can't touch the retirement money until he's 55, or so.

I doubt whether these crowned heads in Congress have to live by the same rules the working class have to abide by.

Weiner was also (1) Schumer's Congressional aide, and, (2) was elected to the NY City Council----he could be cashing in from those positions, as well.

===============================

He's got $5 mil in campaign money (for his Mayoral ambitions) that he cannot convert for personal use.

I guess he'll contribute the $5mill to UNICEF to feed the hungry (/snix).

You have to wonder what the little jerk did to get all that campaign money. After all, he does represent Brooklyn--duh. Can you say kickbacks?

All of Weiner's budget items, earmarks, etc, should be scrutinized. Constituent groups that got federal money should have to prove where they spent it.
