Sarah Palin’s Level of Intellect Disclosed By Email Analysis
Election News ^ | 6/19/11 | Melissa Borjas

As Sarah Palin received criticism that persistently persistently mocked her own intellect, she released to the public about 24,000 of her emails during her time as Governor of the state of Alaska. A representative from AOL Weird News, an unconventional counterpart of AOL.com, handed over some samples of her writing to analysts in order to determine how effectively Palin wrote. If they expected the outcome to verify the media’s anti-Palin disposition, they were in for a big surprise.

The conventional Flesch-Kincaid readability test indicated that Sarah Palin’s emails were actually written very well, at around an 8th grade level with a score between 8.2 and 8.5, hardly being an illiterate as to what her critics had previously defined her as, AOL noted that this was in fact “an outstanding score for a leader.” For perspective about this number, Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, more highly edited than what Sarah Palin had in her emails, ranked about 8.8 about the same scale, while Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation came in at 9.1.

I’d think the level at which someone writes is determined by her estimation of the intellect of the readers more than by her own intellect. If you’re writing for sixth-graders. you write at a sixth-grade level. If your readership includes Democrats, you might go for more like a third-grade level.

I'm still waiting for a similar analysys Of Obambi.
Is he even literate? Could there be 24,000 emails or anything else in which he participated that might give us a clue?

I sort of doubt it. If all his school records have been sealed, the reason has got to be fear of revealing the trailer park level of intelligence.

He do speak real good, though; most of the time.

Flesch-Kincaid readability test indicated that ...

The Flesch-Kincaid readability test measures what the reader of a certain grade level can read and understand, i.e., "readability". It does not measure the writing level that the writer is capable of given the appropriate circumstance.

An e-mail is a short and sweet note. It is not a White Paper. When communicating in e-mails, the KISS Principle applies: Keep It Simple, Stupid.

I’m visualizing Zer0 sitting at his desk copying what he sees on the teleprompter in front of him.

Not this again—danging with faint praise.
Just another mendacious hate Palin hit piece saying they are surprised that she has the smarts of a 13 year old—like it's a darn compliment.

Guess the stock of original PDS material is running low.Liberals and RINOs are such mental motes.

Late in the article it notes that Obambi’s stump speech was a 7.4 on the same scale. This is actually a fairly evenhanded piece if you actually READ THE ARTICLE instead of just the excerpt, but the others posting on this thread shouldn’t let the facts get in the way of a good MSM conspiracy theory.

If this piece is ever reported on by the MSM all we will get is Sarah Palin’s “8th Grade Level” and nothing more.

The authors should have opened with “For off the hip emails Sarah Palin is a very competent writer.”
Then leave out the “8th Grade Level” or at least report MLK “I have a Dream” speech and Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation at “9th Grade Levels.”
But they didn't and they left BHO’s miserable score for the end.
Only Sarah was compared to a Junior High student...
why was that?
Thus I stand by my #7 post.

If you’re writing for the general public you had better keep it at second grade level or below!
