“an eleventh term in Congress”

A combination of words that should never even exist. 8 years max for a Rep, 12 max for a Senator, and you’re out.

This is (IMHO) a major reason for the Beltway mindset that’s destroying our federal government.

Is she retiring to Havana, to spend more time with her ideological soulmates, the Castro Brothers?

I guarantee that her replacement will be a Barbara Boxer clone, or worse.

So I guess we'll be able to soon find out....

Where's the ideal place for moonbats to retire to?

And how do you limit the job service length of staffers, runners, and advisers, especially those who work as “consultants”?

If you keep a bunch of novices in the elected positions, you shift power in a massive way towards the unelected, unaccountable bureaucracy.

An educated populace using their vote is the “term limits” that we should be pushing for.

I live in her district and she is about as liberal as they come. However the county is very progressive and expect the next representative will as bad as her.

Wow, only 73. She’s retiring young for that organization.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, she was collecting welfare while starting up her personnel agency business.

Noted that she was to make the announcement at her home in Petaluma with “her friend” Barbara Lee (from Berzerkley). Oh well, out with the old Marxist, in with the new ( maybe “Any Twosome Newsom”).

ASB - agreed, but how does that happen? Like my granddad used to say, you can’t push a string. There has to be sufficient motivation for a populace to become educated and informed, and thus far nobody’s broken that code.

Looking at her voting record would convince me that she still is.

I would love, just love, if we could for one year legally bar Federal withholding of taxes. Then, make everyone pay their taxes at the end of the year.

Instead of people getting excited at tax time for getting a “return”, they would be pissed at writing a big check.

I once started a liberal neighbor along the path of conservatism by talking about taxes. I pointed out that I paid more in taxes every year than I did in rent.

That made him get out his paystub and look at it. He paid more in payroll taxes than he did on his mortgage. He was surprised. I explained he didn’t feel the bite of the payments because he was just used never having to “pay” it.

He looked at me and said “That’s like paying for a house for an ex-wife I don’t have”.

That is what it takes. One on one education to see government waste and excess.
