New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo will call a special election on Sept. 13 to fill former Rep. Anthony Weiner’s seat, WNBC-TV reporter Andrew Siff reported.
Siff tweeted that the date to replace the Democratic lawmaker who resigned in a sexting scandal would not be formally set until after the state legislative session ends later this week.

Weiner can keep receiving govt paychecks until the special election ..... that includes paychecks for being a Congressman, then he'll suckup several govt pensions: (1) Congressional pension and benefits, (2) a monthly check for serving as Scuhmer's aid, and, (3)another monthly check for being on NY's City Council.
Meanwhile, Weiner can keep milking the system while "in rehab" relaxing on the beach in the posh Hamptons, and collude with his backers to finance his future-------perhaps a well-paid sinecure reserved for "disgraced" lifelong politicians who never had a real job (see Eliot Spitzer et al).
Not to forget all those endorsement deals Weiner is lining up:
"I've been using volumizing Pantene Shampoo ever since I was in HS."

*Might* be an interesting race if our dying, state GOP can field a good candidate. That district has been trending Republican.
You can be sure the Dems will make Medicare the issue, though, as they mistakenly believe that's what swung NY-26. Could be a surprise pick-up if the Republicans don't let themselves get suckered into that.
