OMAHA, Neb. A berm holding the flooded Missouri River back from a Nebraska nuclear power station collapsed early Sunday, but federal regulators said they were monitoring the situation and there was no danger.
The Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station shut down in early April for refueling, and there is no water inside the plant, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said. Also, the river is not expected to rise higher than the level the plant was designed to handle. NRC spokesman Victor Dricks said the plant remains safe.
The federal commission had inspectors at the plant 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Omaha when the 2,000-foot (600-meter) berm collapsed about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

The Missouri River is expected to rise as much as 5 to 7 feet (1.5 to 2.1 meters) above flood stage in much of Nebraska and Iowa and as much as 10 feet (3 meters) over flood stage in parts of Missouri.
Heads should roll. Decent people are suffering because of totalitarian bureaucratic organizations that collude with puppet masters.
As an American and as an engineer, I can’t believe that we can’t prevent this kind of thing. Technically, there is nothing difficult about the problem. it is just roll up your sleeves, commit the resources and solve it. Shame on us!
Remember the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Katrina... Where is the liberal media on this......
It's truely amazing the amount of water running down that river.
Praying the levee's hold, or it's gonna be real bad!
Lots of flooding in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota......and all that water is rushing south. Many around here are faulting the Corps of Engineers.

June 23 - the levee broke at Brownsville, Nebraska above the Cooper Nuclear Plant which is in full operation.
June 25 - the berm collasped above the Ft. Calhoun Nuclear Station (Nebraska) which is partially shut down.
The current river condition will continue to rise another 5-7 feet. Flood conditions are expected to continue through August.
It’s all “routine” and “expected.” The government has everything under control. Nothing to see. Move along.
Can’t reactors be built on a hill (natural or man made)?
Nothing in the article about the EPA. Did I miss something?
This was a photo that circulated around Westinghouse last week.
That would cost some money. The government doesn’t seem to spend based on a cost-benefit basis anymore. Only on how many votes can be purchased for someone’s reelection campaign.
Highway 75 north out of Omaha was still open last week. I drove right by the plant.
Elections have consequences. Elect a thugocracy leaning to communism and globalist agenda and you get serfdom for we the people as the Republic is extinguished. We passed pitchforks and torches time long ago. Soon, it will be lock and load time.
