Texas Governor Rick Perry gets 55% of the vote to Romneys 22%
Despite the mainstream media's best offers to give the Republican nomination for president to Mitt Romney before anyone has actually voted, a Zogby/Newsmax polls shows again how incredibly vulnerable Romney is, and how much conservatives dislike the man.
In a recent Zogby/Newsmax survey of likely Republican primary voters, Rick Perry destroys Mitt Romney basically across the board in a head-to-head matchup.
Newsmax reports:
No matter which way you look at this, Romneys candidacy has holes within the core Republican base, pollster John Zogby tells Newsmax. In simple head-to-head matchups against the two non-candidates, he gets drubbed.
The other non-candidate is New Jersey Governor Chris Christie who beats Romney with 62 percent of the vote.
Since Christie continues to say he has no interest in running for president and since Rick Perry is now considering a run, and since we live in Texas, lets look deeper into the Perry vs. Romney numbers.
59 percent of those who will vote in the GOP primary, but say they are independents support Perry. That's what folks in Texas would call a good old fashioned butt whoopin'.
Romney beats Perry 46 percent to 37 percent among those who call themselves moderates and, heres a shocker, liberals support Romney 58 percent to just 3 percent for Perry.
Conservatives strongly support Perry over Romney at 62 percent vs. 16 percent for the architect of Romneycare.
Romney can only manage to garner a meager 20 percent among voters who believe the country is headed in the wrong direction.
Romney does manage to squeak past Perry among those who list their religion as Other/None.
Perry going to RedState Gathering -
Rick Perry will be in front of conservatives on August 12 14 when he appears at the Third Annual Red State Gathering. The gathering is being held in South Carolina and will be hosted by Governor Nikki Haley.
The event will be held August 12-14 at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina. It begins with a private party hosted by Governor Haley on Friday night and concludes with a banquet on Saturday evening.
I’m not excited about it, but I’ve been predicting for a while that Rick Perry will be our next President. Better than Obama I suppose. :(
If not, we're in for a long hellish road to 2016.
Come on! ANYBODY could TROUNCE ROMNEY!
Rick Perry is a flip flop on illegal immigration!
Just Saying..What part of ILLEGAL doesn’t he understand??
Thanks for posting.
I guess the Perryphobic will arrive pretty soon to tell us how horrible he is and how he is now the media’s favorite.
The guy who does the floors here would be better than “O”
Not even Gardasil will help Milt.
Reagan from Ca followed Nixon from Ca. Maybe Perry from Tx following Bush from Tx won’t be bad?
Interesting. Things are getting clarified.
Fringe candidates (Newt, Cain, Santorum) are clearly out.
Anyway, the guy most worried about Perry is Pawlenty.
Pawlenty’s main asset is not being Romney (or Palin) so his strategy was to the fallback compromise. If Perry gets in, there is no room for Pawlenty anymore.
It is now Romney-Perry-Bachmann(/Palin)
Most people don’t know much about Perry (other than he is Texas Governor), but this clearly show how majority of GOP voters are worried about Romney.
Then again , perhaps Perry is too Bush like to win. I know if I was Obama’s team , Perry would be an easy and fun target. Perry kind of looks like Bush , talks like him. Got the hat and boots too. Avg voter wants 2 things. To fire Obama and move on from the Bush and Obama policies much like 1980 when voters wanted to get rid of Carter and move on from the Nixon Ford years too.
Actually, and I hope I don’t get slammed for saying this, all the people on the Coservative side are worlds better than “O”
There is a lot of talent that the Conservatives have to sort through... and maybe that is as it should be.
The only person I really would have to hold my nose to vote for is Mitt.
Rick Perry-— ya gotta love him with his Texas A&M degree in animal science that will make Eastern Elite heads explode. I am praying he runs. He can beat Bamster by 20 points...easy!!
Go Rick GO!!!
The plumber that unclogs the sewer lines could beat Obama. <---I think that's a better line.
No matter which way you look at this, Romneys candidacy has holes within the core Republican base,
Yeah, we don’t buy snake oil!
Rick Perry Trounces Romney In ZOGBY/NEWSMAX POLL======
That’s my guy! Hell on wheels. Hmmmm. President Perry. (Has a plenty nice ring to it, to me.)
Perry’s deal is he is conservative enough and financially savy enough to enjoy the best features of each of the candidates in himself singularly. You know what I mean? He wouldn’t NEED or HAVE to VP any of the other candidates running for some competency he didn’t have. He really has it all in one, IF he runs at all, and runs well.
The three I think don't have a prayer of making it in the general are Bachmann (no experience or achievement), Gingrich (too creepy), and Romney(Romney care, flip-flopper).
In the real world of politics, neither of them can lay a glove on "O", the rest can.
ABSOLUTELY.
Nearly ANY Republican would be, and Perry, I believe is to the right of Romney.
Bush the elder (Tx.), Clinton (Ill.), Bush the younger (Tx.), Obama (Ill.)..........Perry (Tx.) ?
” Not even Gardasil will help Milt. “====
HELPFUL HINT:
GUARDASIL WAS AN “OPT OUT” PROPOSITION, FOLKS, AND IT WAS DROPPED ENTIRELY BY THE TEXAS CONSERVATIVE LEGISLATURE.
To have ever proposed it as mandatory requirement, even with the opt out caveat was not a smart move, and not a conservative move, and Perry regrets it. So, yes, Perry is flawed as is every candidate. His flaws are big, stupid and brassy but they always go away. That’s a plus.
Not even Gardasil will help Milt.
///
yep. any candidate has warts.
and we could do a lot worse than Perry.
i’ll pull the lever for him!
(but then, I’d pull the lever for
“Perry the Platypus” over Obama...)
