We haven't counted calories or monitored our weight since we switched from “health food” to real food. We have continued our normal exercise routines and avoid HFCS and hydrogenated oils. That means we cook a lot of our own food, which is also much healthier. We drink whole milk, eat dark chocolate, and indulge in red wine every now and then. My in-law’s kitchen is filled with no-fat, low-fat, low-cal, sugar-free processed foods that have ingredients lists miles long. They both constantly battle their weight while dipping carrot sticks in fat-free, MSG riddled ranch dressing.

I've never been wild about artifical sweeteners - won't let my girls have diet soda (they really don't care much for soda at all anyway) MGD liked his Mountain Dew, but when he has it on a regular basis he gets a belly on him. We switched him from regular soda to this and he dropped 25 lbs in short order.
