US Lawmaker Regrets 'Hitler' Remark

Democrat John Binienda of Massachusetts apologizes for comparing Republican proposal that would require lobbyists to wear ID badges to Nazi tattooing of Jews during Holocaust Reuters

A Massachusetts state lawmaker apologized on Thursday for a remark comparing a Republican proposal that would require lobbyists to wear ID badges to the Nazi tattooing of Jews during the Holocaust.

House Republicans last week proposed a set of ethics reforms in response to the recent corruption conviction of former Massachusetts Speaker Salvatore DiMasi and an associate.

Among the proposals was a plan for lobbyists to wear visible identification badges to seek access to House members or staff.

John Binienda, a Democrat from Worcester, told the State House News Service on Wednesday that the ID badges plan was "revolting," and compared it to Adolf Hitler having Jewish people tattooed in concentration camps.

The lawmaker, chairman of the Massachusetts House Rules Committee, recanted after his comments sparked outrage.

"Yesterday, I made an inappropriate analogy regarding a proposed change to the House Rules," Binienda said in a statement. "No comparison can be made between the Nazi regime and a rules proposal made by members in good faith."

Hey Dumbokrouts!

The badges make it easier to know who to go to get your bribes!

Always the pessimists!

Them left-wingers hate anything that forces people to identify themselves. Proving who you are to vote is racist, having a badge for a professional briber lobbyist is a Nazi scheme., proving citizenship before becoming President is just plain silly.

Dear Ynet News,

“US Lawmaker Regrets ‘Hitler’ Remark”

They are *not* “lawmakers” — they are “representatives” or “public servants.”

Republican proposal that would require lobbyists to wear ID badges

Dumb idea from the stupid party.

Lobbyists are not the problem. Venal politicians who can be bought are the problem.

Nowadays, not so much "public servants" as "public sewer vents".

Like many on the Left, Binienda will leap at any chance (no matter how absurd) to paint conservatives as “Nazis”. These same people make the same types of claims when it comes to any common sense measure, like checking Voter ID to prevent fraud. The irony is that 1) many Leftists are anti-semetic (yes, even those of Jewish origin) and 2) most Leftists yearn to impose their will on the populace using FACIST decrees and measures. After all, they really do know better [/s]—just ask ‘em.

Does that Republican proposal provide long prison terms, lots of barbed wire and dingy surroundings for politicians who solicit or accept bribes? Now, THAT’S something I could definitely support.

His comments are an insult to Jews who were tattooed and who had to wear the Star of David. (Our neighbor when I was growing up had a tattoo on his arm. The Nazis sterilized him.)

It’s not a bad strategy for a Republican candidate to advertise that he is the Next Hitler or the Next Stalin (in a humorous way).

If he does that, then how can the Dems oppose him?

If we were nazis... this man would not even have a tongue with which to spew his venom... but we are not and he spews away. Proof of the insanity and immoral decay of evil that lies in the heart of EVERY dim.

This guy seems to be more hack than ideologue. Must be a disciple of the Corrupt Midget. I bet he has a lot of relatives who work in the lottery office or are toll takers on the Mass Pike.

It’s just like being a slave in the sugar-cane fields while the overseer lounges on the verandah with a mint julep!

Actually, it’s considerate of the Democrats to go ape and break out the Nazi accusations, because that way we know what they’re really afraid of. It might seem to us that an id-badge for lobbyists isn’t important, but clearly it is.

Back in the Clinton days when the anti-gun frenzy was at its height, I cut a Star of David out of a yellow margarine lid. I wrote “Gun Owner” on it, pinned it to my shirt, and went to a Utah gun show.

The press had photographers at the entrance taking photos of those in attendance. I consistently walked in front of them so they could see my “badge” but for some reason no pics were taken.

Same thing inside - the TV station had set up some cameramen at the end of the main aisle. Every time I walked in front of them the red light went out.

Funny thing, even the dealers were spooked. Not one of them would make eye-contact.

Quite an education on my part.

Nazis, Europe’s version of the Democrats. Sugar cane? Cotton fields Dear Lady, cotton fields.’’ Where the happy darkies toil away and the Blossom of the South shines forever....’’ uh anyway. Yeah, Dems and “Nazi’’ epithets. Cheapens and insults the millions of the Nazis victims and the millions more who gave so much and who fought so heroically,( like an uncle of mine) to put an end the the Nazis. These are the people who btw are always lecturing us about ‘’tolerance’’ and ‘’civility’’.
