Texas schools do not suck. But, they need to realize that the days of the blank check from the State Government are over. This way we can actually have some accountability at the district level.

Exactly! Our school district has consistently received high marks for how they manage their money. When they knew the budget would be smaller this year they began figuring how to tweak this, cut back on that, rearrange things, combine some things...but they got 'er done and the KEPT A RAINY DAY FUND in the bank in case there is a real emergency. I might add, our school district is one of the top ones in the state of Texas.
And I forgot to add, they did not have to ask for a tax increase either.
