I’ve only read a portion of it, but the article seems to argue that Obama has a CIA connection. We know that Bush-42 had a CIA connection and therefore Bush-44 had one. It has been speculated that Clinton had a CIA connection.

I am getting tired of the CIA selecting our presidents. Is Hillary next in line?

Like everything I’va read by Proffesor Codevilla, this is concise, magisterial, and also full of felicitous, almost off-handedly brilliant phraseology.
I happened to pick up The American Spectator one day about 6 months ago at B&N, and started reading his great 18-page essay, which has since been published as a small paperback,
with additions of key Founding Father documents in the appendix. I was so thrilled by that essay, I told everyone I knew to read it. THen I found it reprinted in its entirety (I hope it’s till there)
on the TAS website. I will post a link later in this thread if I can find it.
A few days after I read it I turned on Rush’s program on the radio, and he was reading large chunks of it aloud to his listeners.
I must say, Codevilla is my new intellectual hero: he seems to have a relentlessly objective, eagle-eye view of our current crisis
better than anyone’s and delivers it with absolute authority.

Years later, as a presidential candidate, he shielded his extensive involvement with Marxist ideas and organizations by saying: "By the end of the week [my opponent] will be accusing me of being a secret communist because I shared my toys in kindergarten. I shared my peanut butter and jelly sandwich."

McCain should have jumped all over the arrogant crypto-commie with a comeback like: "I spent six years in a communist prison. Communism has nothing to do with sharing. It has everything to do with taking, by force. And killing."

A big reason Zero sits in the White House on the verge of collapsing the US economy is because McCain never took the gloves off, except to attack those on his right.

While many at FR have read our framers, and the relevant cases before Justia edited out Minor v Happersett, Clairmont Institute is a 501c3, and must be careful to avoid scrutiny which could crush them at the will of the party in power. They can have no doubt, as every one of our Senators attested in April 2008, that a president must have been born to citizen parents. Codevilla doesn’t quite connect Jay, Washington and Marshall's caution that our president must have inherited allegiance from his parents, but he explains from whom Obama boasted of having received his moral and political guidance, almost touching the third rail of Obmaa's patent illegitimacy to the office of the presidency.

The weapons available to Obama, The Justice Department, CIA, government run media, must be diminishing as his tenure fades and America's international stature weakens. No one should forget what a criminal justice department was permitted, even by the president for whom it worked, to do to Scooter Libby, prosecuting him with the full public assistance of a compliant press, after a confession had been proffered by Dick Armitage working for Colin Powell.

Almost all current and former intelligence agents know about these connections. Codevilla didn't mention John Brennan, Deputy CIA Director, who has been at Obama’s elbow for five or more years, or old Communist sympathizer Leon Panetta, first at CIA and now Sec Def. Codevilla he has compiled a rationale for Obama’s motivations about a class of society with which Codevilla was connected, but with few of us have any direct experience.

I had not thought about Cord Meyer for several decades, and would never have made the connection. He retired from the CIA in 1977, but Codevilla's mention caused bells to ring. I hope Codevilla expands his analysis into a book, or collection of articles, because it will connect many others, not necessarily attempting to foment revolution, but whose behavior has been certainly constrained by what and who they know, and what roles they have performed in the past.

What seems to be taking shape is that Obama’s is a presidency shaped by a powerful faction with strong connections, if not its origin, in our CIA.

Thanks for posting this.

Wow. Those of you already familiar with Angelo Codevilla will hardly be surprised by the depth of his insights or the breadth of his knowledge. And yet, he has captured the essence of Barack Obama in quite a unique fashion, by reference to the universe in which he was raised, the (known) facts of his upbringing and painstakingly logical suppositions beyond that which we can know for certain.

All of which leads to a brilliant summation in which Obama is confirmed to be that which many of us have long known: an artificial man of rootless parentage, radical influences, and intellectual pretension; one whose emotional attachment to the country he now leads is as superficial as the campaign that helped elect him.

Great read, thanks.

Loved this:

since he seems to have been reading from a teleprompter all his life, and since words certifiably his own are both few and opaque, it is most fruitful as well as relevant for us to focus on whom and what he has been following.

That is a long read....and an incredible one.

Scary....very scary.

We'd better get a true American back in the executive leadership role, or the stain will finish us off.
